TORONTO -- The Toronto Raptors were set to depart for a gruelling four-game road swing after Wednesday nights loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. Jahlani Tavai Youth Jersey . The trip couldnt come at a better time, as its homecourt that proving a disadvantage to Toronto this season. Kemba Walker hit a buzzer-beating jump shot in overtime to lift the Charlotte Bobcats to a 104-102 overtime victory Wednesday, handing the Raptors their eighth loss at home this season. "Its one of those things that whatever it is, were not generating enough focus. . .," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey, at a loss to explain the discrepancy between playing at home and on the road. "We have far more focus on the road than we do at home, and that is a concern. I talked to the team about it today. We have great fans, great crowd, warm building, hot building, so theres no reason why we cant come out with that type of fire and intensity and dont wait until you get hit in the mouth, punched in the mouth until we turn it on." The Raptors are 5-6 on the road this season, and just 4-8 at the Air Canada Centre. Walker scored 29 points, including his 18-footer that sealed the victory for Charlotte (12-14). Al Jefferson added 24 points. "It hurts, everyone who loses a game by a buzzer beater, youd rather get blown out by 50 than lose on a buzzer beater," said Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, who had 17 points and six assists. DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 30 points for Toronto (9-14), while Amir Johnson had a game-high 13 rebounds to go with 10 points. Newcomer John Salmons finished with 11 points, while Jonas Valanciunas added 10. The Raptors led by as much as 16 points midway through the third, but the Bobcats closed the quarter with a 25-9 run to send the game into the fourth locked at 70-70 in front of an Air Canada Centre crowd of 15,201. It was a see-saw battle through the fourth quarter, and the Raptors trailed by three points twice in the last 21 seconds -- the difference negated the second time by Lowrys three-pointer with 12 seconds to go to tie the game 95-95. DeRozan then stripped Walker on the Bobcats last possession to guarantee overtime. Valanciunas, Johnson and DeRozan had the Raptors only three field goals in a sloppy five minutes of overtime that saw the Raptors miss on their first six shots. But DeRozan made one-of-two free throws with a second left to tie it up 102-102. Walker, guarded by Valanciunas -- who was slow to get to him -- was open when he made the winning buzzer-beater. "Tough, tough one second," Valanciunas said. "He made a tough shot. Could make a better job on defence, but it happened. Could be earlier, maybe he wouldnt make that, but what happened happened." Now the Raptors depart for a tough four-game road trip that takes them through Dallas, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and New York. The Raptors play eight of their next 10 games on the road -- a good thing, perhaps. "I dont know, I have no idea," Lowry said, on the poor home record. "I really cant explain it, I cant put my foot on it, weve really got to find a way to change it around." Lowry doesnt agree with Casey assessment that its a lack of focus. "Naw. . .weve just got to find a way to win at home, make the homecourt more of an advantage for us." The Raptors shot 43 per cent from the floor to Charlottes 46 per cent. The Raptors outrebounded the Bobcats 50-40. It was another strong game for Johnson, who injected some desperately-needed energy into one of the ugliest quarters of basketball by either team in a while. The Raptors two assists were the only assists in the quarter, and both teams shot just under a lowly 32 per cent. The Bobcats led 18-15 heading into the second. The Raptors pulled away in what was an only slightly more exciting second quarter, outscoring their visitors 32-19. DeRozan had 11 points in the frame, and Lowrys driving layup with 23 seconds left put the Raptors up by 12. They took a 47-37 lead into the halftime break. Walker scored 11 points in the third quarter as the Bobcats chipped away at Torontos lead, tying it up on a Jefferson layup with two minutes to play. The Raptors general manager has his list of possible draft selections whittled down to a handful ahead of Thursday nights NBA draft in Brooklyn, New York. The Raptors, who have auditioned dozens of players over the past couple of weeks, have the 20th overall pick in the first round, as well as the 37th and 58th picks in the second. Not many outside the International team room are giving the squad from the rest of the world much of a chance in this years Presidents Cup and looking at the records of the 24 players involved, you can understand that stance. On paper, it looks a little like Andre the Giant taking on a midget wrestler. It has all the makings of a rout with the Americans adding an eighth win in nine outings of this biennial event. The Yanks have eight players in the top 15 in the world while the Internationals have just one. Every golfer wearing a U.S. uniform is inside the top 30 while only six of the Rest Of The Worlders are there. The International team also has seven first timers while only one American golfer – Jordan Spieth – hasnt been on either a Ryder or Presidents Cup team. Maybe its finally time to bring in the handicap system to professional golf. You know, put some saddle bags on Tiger Woods or perhaps let the Internationals play it forward. "I mean, I understand that and how it looks on paper," said Adam Scott, the highest-ranked International player. "Its hard to write off guys who are the Top 60 in the world, because on any given day, anyone can beat anyone and weve seen that a million times, especially in 18-hole match play. Yeah, I see how that looks. I also see seven guys here for the first time pumped up and ready to go, and I think thats giving me a great feeling about a new experience in The Presidents Cup after having a run of really, some big defeats. The atmosphere in our room is great this year." The Americans can, in some ways, sympathize. They have been regular punching bags of the Europeans at the Ryder Cup of late, including a humiliating Sunday loss last year in Chicago. But theyre not about to roll over just so this tournament can get some legs. "Regardless of what past results have been," said Phil Mickelson, "its a tournament we very much want to win, we very much want to play welll in, and we want to represent the United States with class and pride in a way that everybody can be proud. Jahlani Tavai Womens Jersey. So we want to play well, and past performance has nothing to do with it." "I think everybody on our team realizes weve got a tough test in front of us," said Brandt Snedeker, who will partner with Hunter Mahan to take on Canadas Graham DeLaet and Jason Day. "I think we realize all these guys except for probably Matsuyama is probably the guy we know the least about. The rest of the guys we play on a regular basis. We see them a lot and realize how good theyre playing, and these guys are by no means the underdogs theyre trying to make themselves out to be." Captain Nick Price isnt as worried about winning the Cup as he is in making it close, something that hasnt happened lately. Of course hed like to win and to do that, hell need to find a way to keep things from getting out of reach before the Sunday singles. "I think more important than anything else, this Presidents Cup needs to be very competitive," said Price. "Because in the past, the last four Presidents Cups, you can argue either way, but I honestly believe they have not been that competitive." Not competitive? The Internationals havent just been losing, theyve been getting hammered. Since they tied in South Africa in 2003, theyve lost by three points, five points, five points and four points. Not exactly nail-biting stuff. For the Internationals to make a game of this, theyll need to rely on the naivety of their rookies who, as Graham DeLaet pointed out this week, dont know what they dont know, and some exceptional play from the veterans such as Scott and Ernie Els. You never say never in a game like golf, but certainly this would be an upset of monumental proportions. While the odds may be long, the upside of a win would be ever-so sweet. In sports, theres nothing like kicking a little U.S. butt. ' ' '
