As important as it was Antworten

LANDOVER Terry McLaurin Washington Redskins Jersey , Md. (AP) —for the Washington Redskins to finally put together two consecutive victories, coach Jay Gruden knows that being in first place atop the NFC East at this point in the season is truly not really a big deal at all.“It’s great to get two in a row, get the monkey off our back this year,” Gruden said, “but we have a long way to go before we start celebrating.”The Redskins (4-2) extended their division lead by beating the Cowboys 20-17 on Sunday, holding on when Dallas kicker Matt Baher put a 52-yard field-goal try off the left crossbar as time expired after a 5-yard penalty on his long snapper pushed the attempt back. The result stopped Washington’s pattern of alternating wins and losses this season. It also allowed Gruden’s club — which began the day 18-18-1 since the start of the 2016 season — to briefly enjoy a rare cushion in the standings.Dallas heads into its bye week at 3-4, the same record as the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who also lost Sunday. The fourth team in the division is the New York Giants, who take a 1-5 record into their game against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. The Giants also happen to be Washington’s opponent next week.Get this: The Redskins hadn’t won their opening NFC East game in any season since 2011.“It’s pretty early to talk about that kind of stuff,” Washington quarterback Alex Smith said. “But you do realize that those division games, down the line, have huge ramifications.”What we learned about the Cowboys and the Redskins moving forward:COWBOYS BYEThe good news for Dallas is that it gets two weeks to try to work on all of its issues, from the inefficient offense, to the key penalties, to the week-to-week inconsistencies. “We got time now to fix it — over drinks,” defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence joked. The loss to Washington continued a real problem: The Cowboys are now 0-4 on the road, 3-0 at home. They host the Tennessee Titans (3-4) in their next game, on Nov. 5, then travel to play at Philadelphia on Nov. 11, and at Atlanta on Nov. 18.AS ZEKE GOES …When RB Ezekiel Elliott is held under 75 yards, Dallas is 0-3 this season and 0-5 for his career. He gained only 34 yards on 15 carries against Washington, and a Cowboys team that put up 40 points in a victory over the supposedly defensive-minded Jacksonville Jaguars was held to less than half that this time around. Getting that straightened out is a big must for Dallas. “Teams are going to game-plan around him,” center Joe Looney said about Elliott.SAQUON’S NEXTAfter limiting Elliott, the Redskins next challenge shapes up as taking on Giants rookie Saquon Barkley, the No. 2 overall draft pick who enters Monday with 438 yards Cheap Terry McLaurin Jersey , a 5.2 average per carry and four TDs. “Our defense, they’ll have a tough challenge, but they’re well-equipped to stop him,” Redskins RB Adrian Peterson said. “They did a great job at controlling the front (against Dallas). They’re going to have to do the same thing next week.”PETERSON STILL DOING ITPeterson was the better running back Sunday, even though he is 33, a full decade older than Elliott. Peterson, who was available for any team when he was signed by the Redskins in the preseason, gained 99 yards on 24 rushes against Dallas. “I think everyone else around is surprised; I’m not,” Peterson said. “I expect greatness from myself.”SHAKY SMITHThere were quite a few mistakes made by Smith that wound up limiting Washington’s scoring and making things tougher on the team than they needed to be. He missed a wide-open Jeremy Sprinkle in the end zone on one first-and-goal situation that resulted in a field goal. Another poor pass to the end zone led to another field goal following first-and-goal. A third-down scramble on which he ended up out of bounds with 78 seconds left stopped the clock for Dallas before Washington punted. “If we do a better job in the red zone, then the game could have been different, ended up much different, not as dramatic,” said Smith, who was 14 of 25 for 178 yards and one TD pass. “We could have opened that up a little bit.” George Asafo-Adjei, OT/OGSchool: Kentucky | Conference: SECCollege Experience: Senior | Age: 22?Height/Weight: 6-5 / 315 lbsProjected Draft Status: 3rd Round NFL Comparison: Billy TurnerCollege StatisticsN/APlayer OverviewKnown as “Big George” on the football field George Asafo-Adjei just might be one of the most underrated tackle/guard prospects this year. He committed to Kentucky in 2015 and was the first freshman during Head Coach Mark Stoops tenure to avoid being given a redshirt. He started immediately at right tackle. It wasn’t smooth sailing for him at first though. He lost the job his freshman season after a few games and was moved to guard during his sophomore season. His coaches credit this transition and experience as essential to George’s growth into the player he is now. He moved back to RT his junior year and has held down that position since. Asafo-Adjei is now considered one of Kentucky’s best offensive lineman, recognized twice this season as SEC offensive lineman of the week. I think Asafo-Adjei is one of the more consistent and reliable RT prospects in this draft. He is leader on the offensive side of the ball and was voted team captain. His teammates credit him for his professionalism and influence on them regarding work ethic and how to prepare. He has held his own against challenges from top competition and should be receiving a lot more press as this draft season kicks into gear. StrengthsGood size, height, and I daresay length (without official measurements) for the position. If he’s going to play tackle in the NFL (I think he should) He could stand to add a little more weight. Very strong. The biggest thing that stands out about him is his footwork and ability to adjust to EDGE rushers. It’s beautiful the way he was able to handle rushers all season long but especially the EDGE players from Miss St, Florida, and Tennessee. Plays with good awareness, arm extension is great, once he gets hands on his defender he can really lock on. Absorbs defenders power and can counter. Keeps his feet moving through the play. Creates nice solid arch on right side of the pocket. Really solid in pass protection. Displays really good body control on the run. For a tackle of his size he shows really great leverage and balance. He’s able to push and turn defenders to seal off running lanes. Praised for his leadership and professionalism.WeaknessesWhile impressive in close quarters I’m not completely sold on his athleticism especially in space. He was late to a few screens and sometimes has trouble finding work at the second level. Would love it if he developed a solid punch and swat move instead of relying on moving step for step against defenders. When he has “free time” he should remain vigilant on his side (as he does) but he should also look to help out his teammates still working. Let’s see his work:Look for #64 (RT)More George Asafo-Adjei videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsThe Redskins looked to the future when drafting Geron Christian last year in the 3rd round at the LT position. This year they could and probably should look to the future at the RT position and Asafo-Adjei would be a good player to consider. Ty Nsekhe is not under contract next season and he is 33 years old. Morgan Moses has been a warrior at RT but has been plagued by injuries and bluntly his play has deteriorated. If it doesn’t improve the Redskins could move on from him as early as the 2020 season. Asafo-Adjei has a lot of the fundamentals under his belt already it’s just a matter of him cleaning some things up and ultimately being more active though his reps. Coaching can teach ‘finding work’ through a rep, it can teach punch and counter moves. The big question for him will be his movement skills and athletic testing numbers to an extent. I think he could come in and surprise with his play at RT as early as his rookie year. Also because of his past experience at guard he adds a little more value to this Redskins team who unfortunately has had to shuffle players all over the line the past few years. I mentioned that he could put on a little more weight if he wanted to but that may not be necessary if he does not kick inside and stays at right tackle. The Redskins have real depth needs at the position that could become starter needs in a blink. Given the injuries that have plagued the position it would be wise to invest in more young talent.
