1-0 with a 3.66 GAA and .888 save percentage in four career games versus the Blues w Antworten

NEW YORK -- NFL owners likely will consider expanding the playoffs by two teams, beginning in 2015, when they hold their spring meetings in Orlando next week, but a vote on the subject is uncertain. Albert Wilson Jersey . A groundswell for raising the number of playoff qualifiers to seven in each conference figures to get plenty of support from the 32 owners. Most notably, Arizonas Bill Bidwill, who saw his Cardinals go 10-6 and not get in, while Green Bay (8-7-1) qualified by winning the NFC North. The current format of four division winners and two wild-card teams has existed since 2002, when Houston joined the league as an expansion team, bringing the membership to 32. "There will be a report on the potential of expanded playoffs," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday. "We dont know if there will be any vote at this meeting." Also on the agenda will be alterations to extra points, changing who oversees video replay reviews, and further clamping down on the use of racial slurs by players during games. A change in the playoff structure would be needed if 14 teams qualify, with the top seed in each conference still getting a first-round bye. The next six teams would play in what is now the wild-card round, with the second seed facing No. 7, the third seed taking on No. 6 and the fourth and fifth seeds playing each other. But the NFLs influential competition committee is not presenting a proposal to the owners. One reason the league is looking at more playoff teams is a stalemate in talks with the players union about expanding the regular season from 16 games. Another is the added revenue stream two more post-season games would provide, with those matches up for bidding among the current network partners -- Fox, NBC, ESPN and CBS, which just grabbed an eight-week Thursday night package -- and potential new broadcasters such as Turner Sports. Scheduling of the extra wild-card games also would be dicey, although Monday night would seem logical for one of them. Of course, adding two more playoff teams enhances the chances for teams with .500 or losing records to get in. Commissioner Roger Goodell has suggested a change to the one-point kick on extra points might be needed because they have become so automatic. New England has proposed moving the line of scrimmage to the 25 for a one-point try, but leaving it at the 2-yard line for a 2-point conversion. "There are a lot of different views in respect to the extra point," said Falcons President Rich McKay, co-chairman of the competition committee. "There were 1,267 tried and 1,262 made (in 2013), and so there is that thought with the extra point maybe we need to add little more skill, and one of the ways to do it might be the way New England proposed." But its a long shot that anything will be done next week, except perhaps experimenting with longer kicks for one week of the preseason. The Patriots also proposed extending the height of the goal posts 5 feet to make it easier to determine whether a kick is good. New England also suggested allowing coaches challenges on everything except scoring plays, which are automatically reviewed. Replay as an officiating tool always is in the news, and owners are expected to discuss having the NFLs director of officiating, Dean Blandino and his staff at the league offices be involved in some review decisions. The league saw several inexplicable replay decisions made by referees last season, although McKay and Rams coach Jeff Fisher, the committees other co-chairman, praised the overall quality of officiating. As for the use of racial slurs and verbal abuse, there already are rules on the books to deal with the issue. But an emphasis on stronger discipline will be discussed by the owners, and McKay noted that taunting fouls went up significantly from 2012 to 2013. "We are going beyond the field of play, we are going to the workplace," Fisher said of trying to eliminate such language. "This is going to be a very significant point of emphasis." A.J. Derby Jersey . -- When Steve Blake checked in at the scorers table with 5:25 remaining in the third quarter, Stephen Curry shook his head and shouted across the court, asking Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson not to take him out. Josh Sitton Jersey . Striker Dario Mandzukic scored the opener in the 22nd minute but was given a red card nine minutes later for a reckless tackle and left Croatia with 10 men for the remainder of the match. . With the Canadiens leading by one to start the third period, Price turned away 16 shots by the Panthers in the final frame to give Montreal a 2-1 victory over Florida on Monday night. The Panthers (16-21-6) outshot Montreal 16-10 in the final frame, but were repeatedly frustrated by Price, who made 26 saves on the night.( - The St. Louis Blues will try to press on without their No. 1 goaltender on Friday night as they play host to the struggling Edmonton Oilers. The Blues lost Brian Elliott to a lower-body injury in Tuesdays 3-2 shootout setback to the Ottawa Senators. Elliott stopped all 16 shots he faced before exiting late in the second period after a scrum for a loose puck in the crease. While it is unknown how long Elliott will be out, he has been termed week-to- week by head coach Ken Hitchcock and the goaltender was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. Elliott is 8-4-1 with a 1.82 goals against average and .931 save percentage this season, but it appears 24-year-old Jake Allen will carry the load from here on out. Allen made 15 saves in losing Tuesdays contest and is 6-2-1 with a 2.12 GAA and .920 save percentage in nine games this season. Hell be backed up by 21- year-old Jordan Binnington, who has never played in an NHL game. However, veteran Martin Brodeur is expected to practice with the Blues on Friday and could end up signing with the club. Allen could see action on consecutive nights as the Blues visit the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. He has faced the Oilers just once before and gave up three goals on seven shots in just 25 minutes of work to take a loss. St. Louis plays its second straight at home before hitting the road for four in a row. The Blues split a four-game swing ahead of the loss to Ottawa, putting forth an effort termed disappointing by Hitchcock. The loss is one thing, but the way we played at times is disappointing, said the coach. Attention to detail and ffocus. Durham Smythe Jersey. Coming back, we took a day off, get re-energized. I thought our focus was really inconsistent, poor at times execution, not even close to what we played on the road. Unfortunately for the Oilers, they have been consistently bad this season. They come in on an eight-game losing streak, their longest skid since going 0-8-3 from March 8-31, 2011. Edmonton notched a tough-luck loss on Thursday night to the Nashville Predators, falling 1-0 in overtime. Filip Forsberg scored the winner for the Preds with 1:05 left in the bonus frame. The Oilers opened overtime on a power play and were awarded a penalty shot 13 seconds into the frame when Nashville defenseman Shea Weber closed his hand on the puck while in the crease. However, Jordan Eberle saw his chance to end the game denied by Pekka Rinnes left pad. Viktor Fasth ended with 24 saves for the Oilers, who are 0-11-2 against the Western Conference this season. I think we played a really good game today, but unfortunately we couldnt get two points, Fasth said. Fasth finished with 24 saves for the Oilers, who lost their eighth consecutive game. Edmonton lost forward Matt Hendricks to a leg injury after he blocked a shot in the first period. Ben Scrivens could start tonight for the Oilers and is 2-1-0 with a 3.66 GAA and .888 save percentage in four career games versus the Blues with three starts. The Oilers were outscored 17-4 in losing all three meetings with the Blues last season and have lost eight of nine and 14 of the last 17 encounters. Edmonton has dropped seven of its last eight in St. Louis as well.
