REGINA -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders have agreed to a one-year contract extension with president and CEO Jim Hopson. Joe Thomas Jersey . Hopson joined the Roughriders as their first CEO in 2005. He will remain with the CFL club into 2015. "This started about a year ago between the board and Jim," said Roger Brandvold, the Riders chairman of the board. "We spent a fair bit of time talking about the future of Saskatchewan Roughriders and where we need to be. "When I reflect on some of the successes Jim has had, it certainly enabled us to move forward in what we plan to do. Hes assembled a tremendous group of individuals . . . but hes allowed them to grow and hes allowed them to play a critical role in the future of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and where we are today. On top of all that, hes played a tremendous role in who we are and how we continue to grow this organization." During Hopsons tenure, the Riders have advanced to the Grey Cup four times, winning in 07 and last year. The franchise has also recorded record profits under Hopson. Hopsons extension is the latest this off-season for the defending Grey Cup champions, who signed head coach Corey Chamblin, GM Brendan Taman and quarterback Darian Durant to new deals before coming to terms with their top executive. A former Regina Rams junior player, Hopson was an offensive lineman with the Riders from 1973 to 76. He retired after Saskatchewans heart-breaking 23-20 Grey Cup loss to Ottawa -- the Rough Riders won on Tony Gabriels 24-yard TD grab with 20 seconds remaining -- for a full-time career in education. Hopson graduated from the University of Regina with a degree in education and earned a masters degree from the University of Oregon. Brandvold said the CFL club will search for Hopsons successor ahead of the completion of the Riders new stadium, which is slated to open in 2017. Brandvold said it was Hopsons decision that the franchise have a new top executive in place once the facility is completed. "The transition to the new stadium is going to be a significant one and one that has to be well managed and one that has to be very much committed to by the CEO," Brandvold said. "And while Jim has played a very critical role in getting us to where we are today in this new stadium, its one that he felt maybe wouldnt fit into his schedule. "I respect Jims decision." The Los Angeles Clippers showed them just how ugly that life could be. Jared Dudley scored a season-high 21 points, Chris Paul added 16 points and 17 assists, and the Clippers jumped all over the Bulls in Roses absence for a 121-82 victory Sunday. http://www.footballbrownsnflprostore.com/Youth-Danny-Shelton-Elite-Jersey/ . -- Pinch-runner Rajai Daviss decision to steal third base just as Oakland catcher Derek Norris was throwing the ball back to the pitcher caught most everyone by surprise -- including several of his Detroit teammates. The Winnipeg Goldeyes first no-hitter in franchise history was a team effort Wednesday night. Five Goldeyes (13-7) relievers combined to throw a no-hitter in a 3-0 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries in the second game of a doubleheader at Sioux Falls Stadium before 3,268 spectators. "I am going to be smiling for the rest of the night, thats for sure," Goldeyes pitching coach Jamie Vermilyea said on the Jewel 101 post-game show. "They filled up the strike zone. They had a couple walks, but after that they got quick outs." Winnipeg also won the first game 7-1 to sweep the doubleheader and move back into a tie for first place in the North Division. Gabe Aguilar pitched 2 1/3 innings to start the game before handing the ball over to Kaohi Downing, who went 2 2/3 innings hitless innings. From there, Taylor Sewitt pitched a third of an inning, Brendan Lafferty got the last two outs of the sixth inning and first out of the seventh inning and Kyle Bellamy was on the bump for the final two outs of the game. Winnipeg scored a run in the first inning when Tyler Kuhn singled and eventually scored on a Luis Alen double. The Goldeyes added two more runs an inning later, as Casey Haerther and Kuhn had RBI singles. From there, Winnipegs unhittable pitching staff took over. "We just kept on giving the ball to the next guy and they just kept on getting the job done," Vermilyea said. One of the unsung heroes in the no-no wass catcher Luis Alen, who caught 14 innings between the two games. Trevon Coley Jersey. ."Thats tough to do as a catcher," Vermilyea said. "Thats a long day behind the plate. "From the first game, we had a good game play against (Sioux Falls) and he kept throwing down the right fingers."Downing picked up the win, while Bellamy earned the save. Sioux Falls starter Joe Bircher posted a quality start, but suffered the loss. In the first game, Goldeyes starting pitcher Chris Salamida pitched a complete game, allowing just one run in seven innings of work to get the win. It was the first complete game by a Goldeyes pitcher this season and kept the bullpen fresh for the second game. "Sal set (the no-hitter) up by going seven innings and pitching the entire game," said Vermilyea, who pitched a perfect game in Double-A during his playing career. "It allowed us to have our full bullpen." Winnipeg scored once in the first and fourth, twice in the fifth and broke the game open with three runs in the sixth, as Luis Alen singled in a pair of runs and Donnie Webb followed with an RBI single. Webb led Winnipeg at the plate with two hits and two RBI. Salamidas record improved to 2-2 with the win, while Kyle Vazquez took the loss. The Goldeyes will be out to sweep the four-game series tomorrow night. Southpaw Nick Hernandez (0-0, 7.90) will start for Winnipeg against former Goldeye Ben Moore (1-0, 3.62).
