A Canadian pastor being held in North Korea has admitted to planning "subversive plots" against the communist nation during a public interrogation, Pyongyang's official news agency reported late Thursday.


Reverend Hyeon Soo Lim, of the Light Korean Presbyterian Church in Toronto, was detained by North Korean authorities in January just after he arrived from China cheap adidas shoes , according to Canadian consular officials.


Pyongyang's KCNA news agency said Lim had admitted to carrying out "subversive plots and activities in a sinister bid to build a religious state in the DPRK," using North Korea's official name.


"I have so far malignantly defamed the dignity and social system of the DPRK, pursuant to the scenario of the US and the South Korean regime," Lim was quoted as telling officials, media and diplomats at the People's Palace of Culture.


"I delivered a 'report on what is going on in north Korea' before tens of thousands of south Koreans and overseas Koreans at sermon on Sundays at my church and during preaching tours of more than 20 countries," KCNA quoted him as saying.

He has led numerous aid missions to North Korea involving work with orphanage houses, nursing homes and food plants, said Chun -- missions KCNA said were a cover for his plan to damage the "dignity and social system of the DPRK".

A number of missionaries -- mostly American citizens -- have been arrested in North Korea in the past with some of them only allowed to return home after interventions by high-profile US figures.

Portugal emitted Wednesday 1.25 billion euros in six and 12-month treasury bonds, according to national debt agency IGCP, with the average interest rates on short-term bonds at 0.243 percent and 0.453 percent on long-term bonds.


Earlier this week European stocks stumbled after it emerged that the bank's overall holding company, Espirito Santo International (ESI) was covering a hole of at least 1 billion euros in its accounts.


The BES bank's shares had their worst day of the year and its only banking dynasty lost control of the bank Cheap Men's Adidas Ultra Boost ATR Mid Triple White Shoes , with the family selling a fifth of its 25 percent stake on Monday and its chief executive Ricardo Salgado, the great-grandson of the banks' founder, stepping down.

The European Markets are now benefitting from easing tensions in Portugal after the bank assured it has enough financial reserves of more than 2 billion euros to deal with negative fallout.


Last Friday Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho told holders they could trust the bank and said he had no doubts regarding the Portuguese financial system's "tranquillity", adding that tax-payers would not have to bear the losses of private companies.
