MINNEAPOLIS -- Throughout most of last season, Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders and owner Glen Taylor remained steadfast in their stance that they would not consider trading Kevin Love. Cheap Real Ray Bans . They were determined instead to convince the All-Star forward that he should sign an extension to remain after next season. With the NBA draft lottery coming up this week and an increasing concern that Love will leave for another team after next year, that stance has softened, two people with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. The Timberwolves are now open to the idea of trading Love if the right deal comes along. The people requested anonymity because the team has not made any final decisions on Loves future in Minnesota. Love just finished the second year of a four-year deal that includes an option for him to opt-out in the summer of 2015. The contract terms were the first signs of strife for Love and the organization when former basketball boss David Kahn declined to give him the full five-year maximum deal that Love wanted. Kahn was fired in 2013 and Saunders has worked tirelessly to try to convince Love that he should stay in Minnesota where he can make about $26.5 million more than he can anywhere else. But the Wolves have not made the playoffs in 10 years, including all six of Loves seasons with the team, a lack of success that has one of the best power forwards in the game growing more and more impatient. Neither Love nor his representatives have gone so far as to ask for a trade, but as the NBA draft lottery approaches on Tuesday, the trade market figures to heat up. The Timberwolves are slotted to pick 13th in the first round. But they are holding out hope that they get lucky for the first time in franchise history in the lottery and jump up. Getting one of the top three picks in a strong draft could be an encouraging sign for Love. If that doesnt happen, the Wolves could look at making a trade if they felt it had a chance to make them better in the long run. Love has made three All-Star teams and helped Team USA win the gold medal at the London Olympics. He averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists last season, but the Wolves finished a disappointing 40-42 and missed the playoffs in the Western Conference. While there remains some question whether Love can be the best player on a championship-calibre team, there figures to be a long list of suitors to line up for his services via trade this summer or free agency next year. But Love would likely have to give any team that makes the Wolves an offer some kind of indication that he is open to signing an extension, much the way Chris Paul did when he was dealt from New Orleans to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2011. The uncertainty surrounding Love has also complicated the Wolves pursuit of a coach to replace Rick Adelman, who retired after the season. Saunders has been in the market for a proven, experienced head coach who can come and command respect right away while also handling what most assuredly would be a difficult season filled with constant questions about Loves status. Not surprisingly, most of the names near the top of Saunders list have been reluctant to entertain the idea of taking the job without knowing what is going to happen with Love. Some luck on lottery night could also make the job more attractive for an incoming coach. In the absence of any long-shot lottery luck, the Wolves will ramp up their coaching search after their draft position solidifies on Tuesday night. Names such as Lionel Hollins, Sam Mitchell and Scott Skiles will all get consideration. And return runs at Michigan States Tom Izzo, Floridas Billy Donovan or Iowa States Fred Hoiberg arent out of the question after all three gave them a tepid response early in the process. The 41-year-old Northern Irishman has proved a perfect fit at Liverpool since taking over from Kenny Dalglish in the summer of 2012 and steered the team to an unexpected title challenge in the Premier League last season. Hillis left Browns Stadium about two hours before kickoff, a decision that has led to speculation he was upset over ongoing negotiations with the club on a contract extension. http://www.cheapraybanfromchina.com/ . Lauzon rushed for 42 yards on 15 carries for the Vert et Or (2-3) while quarterback Jeremi Roch completed 19-of-32 passes for 251 yards and one interception. Alexandre Aube scored the other touchdown for Sherbrooke. While the San Jose Sharks may not be reaching the promised land as a team, the talent at the top of their depth chart gives them lots of value for fantasy owners. Top Picks: There is a changing of the guard in San Jose, where C Logan Couture is emerging as a more productive option ahead of C Joe Thornton. Couture has 84 goals over the last three seasons, tied with Patrick Marleau and Jonathan Toews for seventh spot. At 24, hes just hitting his peak years and could be considered as a low-end No. 1 pivot, though hes outstanding if hes your No. 2. Thornton is hardly put out to pasture. Even in the last three years, when his point totals have declined below the point-per-game threshold, his 141 assists ranks fourth. LW Patrick Marleaus production has tailed off -- last years 0.65 points per game was his second-lowest since 2002. Even so, Marleau has 166 goals since 2008-2009; only Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos (both 208) have more. Consistency is part of the reason for RW Joe Pavelski being so valuable. That, and his ability to play wing and centre. Pavelski has 268 points since 2008-2009, ranking 45th (his 117 goals ranks 32nd), so hes a reasonable low-end No. 1 option on right wing, so long as the Sharks dont move him into the third-line centre role too often. In three seasons with the Sharks, G Antti Niemi ranks seventh with a .919 save percentage and is tied for third with 93 wins. Easy pick as a fantasy starting goaltender, though he might come at a premium price after a career-best season in 2013. Veteran D Dan Boyle played 22:38 per game last season, his lowest ice time since 2003-2004 and his scoring (0.43 ppg) was at his lowest level since 2001-2002. Hes 37-years-old and could be slowing down, or he could be a veteran player who didnt play anywhere during the lockout. As it is, hes San Joses best option on the blueline and probbably worth of a No. Cheap Ray Ban Sunglasses. 2 spot in most fantasy leagues. Value Plays: Theres an ongoing back-and-forth between the Sharks and RW Martin Havlat about whether or not Havlat will be ready to play at the start of the season, following offseason groin surgery. Even if he is, Havlat isnt a stranger to missing time with injuries (though hes been healthier in recent seasons). He has 45 points in 79 games in two years with the Sharks, which is underwhelming, but that production would be enough to generate some fantasy interest, particularly considering his upside, as a seven-time 50-point scorer. Sleepers/Breakthrough: RW Brent Burns may be a sleeper in some respects, because hes moving to right wing for a full season, but hes on everyones radar after last year, so youre going to have to pay full retail prices. With nine goals and 20 points in 24 games on right wing last season, Burns offers the potential for, perhaps, a 30-goal season while skating on the wing with a setup man like Joe Thornton. 25-year-old D Matt Irwin didnt ease his way into the lineup last year, playing more than 19 minutes per game as a rookie, but he acquitted himself well and his bomb from the point gives him power play value. He may not have draft day value in anything but the deepest leagues, but hes one to watch. Rookies: The 17th pick in the 2012 Draft, LW Tomas Hertl is going to have a legitimate chance to crack the Sharks top six forwards after scoring 18 goals in 43 Czech League games last season. Given the quality of San Joses top forwards, thats a great situation for a skilled young forward and one that makes Hertl worth a try as a No. 4 left winger, if only for the upside play.
