CANBERRA Camiseta Philippe Coutinho , Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The gap between the Australian government and the Opposition Australian Labor Party (ALP) has grown, according to the latest Newspoll released on Monday.


The public opinion poll, widely considered Australia's most accurate poll, found that the ALP held a 54-46 lead over Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's Liberal National Party (LNP) in the "two-party-preferred" vote.


The government's primary vote also fell from 36 to 35 percent while Labor, led by Bill Shorten Camiseta Samuel Umtiti , had its best primary vote result of 2017 with 38 percent of respondents saying the ALP would be their first preference if an election were held today.


Turnbull retained his lead as voter's preferred prime minister, favored by 43 percent compared to 33 percent for Shorten, but still had a three percent drop.

Turnbull has been criticized for applying a double standard after Nationals Senator Matt Canavan stood down from cabinet as he awaits the High Court's ruling while Joyce was allowed to remain.


"This has developed, this whole situation, in a way that I don't think anybody in the government anticipated that it would - and now it is clearly affecting the parliament- as a whole," Industry Minister Arthur Sinodinos said.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Friday formally initiated an investigation of so-called China's intellectual property practices under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, despite worries about potential harms to China-U.S. trade ties.


"The investigation will seek to determine whether acts, policies, and practices of the Government of China related to technology transfer Camiseta Jasper Cillessen , intellectual property, and innovation are unreasonable or discriminatory and burden or restrict U.S. commerce," the USTR's Office said in a statement.


The move comes after President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive memorandum directing Lighthizer to consider the possible initiation of an investigation.


China has urged the United States to objectively evaluate China's progress in protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) and resolve the differences with China through dialogue and consultation.


"The United States should treasure the current sound Sino-U.S. economic and trade ties and cooperation momentum. Any U.S. trade protectionism move will surely damage bilateral ties and the interests of companies from both countries," China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Tuesday.
