BRAZZAVILLE Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey , Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Republic of Congo on Saturday marked its 55th independence anniversary with festivities in Ouesso, the country's third largest city situated about 1,000 km north of the capital, Brazzaville.


The celebrations that included a military parade, were presided over by President Denis Sassou Nguesso and the First Lady Antoinette Sassou Nguesso.
