Gould asked for a trade, but the 49ers said they weren’t going to move their franchise-tagged kicker to allow him to get closer to his Chicago home. EDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft: 3 first round options for the Falcons Troy Taormina-USA TODAY SportsWhat could the Atlanta Falcons possibly do in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft? Here are three legitimate options. The anticipation is boiling over at this point, no doubt about it. As the days draw us closer to the draft, the speculation continues to grow as to what the Falcons may do in the first round. Currently picking at 14th overall, the Falcons may have a flexible draft strategy based on how their offseason has developed thanks to acquisitions on interior offensive line, defensive end, and tight end. Today Womens Trey Burton Jersey , I will present three reasonable options that the Falcons may utilize in the first round as a result of what has transpired and what I am hearing. Option #1: Trade up into the top ten for a premier defensive lineman This rumor has been developing for quite some time and it really picked up steam over the past few weeks. Trade partners such as the Detroit Lions at 8th overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars at 7th overall and even the New York Giants at 6th overall have been mentioned alongside the Falcons as teams that could be landing spots. Thanks to the draft history/tactics of GM Thomas Dimitroff during his Falcons regime, a trade up to target a defensive lineman is definitely not out of the question. The defensive line class is a deep one and a scenario may play out for the Falcons where the ultra-athletic Ed Oliver may still be around after the first few picks or even an electric pass rusher in Florida State’s Brian Burns. It may not take much for the Falcons to slide up into the top-10 and jump ahead of teams such as the Bills, Packers, and Bengals that may also be looking for elite talent on the defensive line. Last year, the Cardinals moved up five spots from 15th to 10th overall with the Raiders to select quarterback Josh Rosen and only parted with a third and a fifth rounder. A similar trade for the Falcons may allow them to make a very critical move. The Falcons need to add some oomph to a defensive front that was more bad than good and this is definitely one way they could do so.Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY SportsOption #2: Stay put at 14th overall and take the best lineman available A safe bet could be placed on this option for the Falcons. Even with the offensive line signings this offseason and the extension of right tackle Ty Sambrailo, many feel that the offensive line will garner attention early on in the draft, quite possibly at 14th. Names such as Oklahoma’s Cody Ford, Alabama’s Jonah Williams Cody Parkey Jersey , and Florida’s Jawaan Taylor have been prospects placed here. All three can very well be top-10 selections and we can also see a scenario where all three are still on the board for the Falcons at 14th. While I highly doubt that top names on the defensive line will be available here, the Falcons will more likely have a selection of strong second-tier options to choose from to add to their defensive front. Keep eyes on Michigan’s Rashan Gary, Clemson’s Christian Wilkins and Clelin Ferrell, or Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat in this area. If the Falcons were to prioritize keeping picks and practice this option, they can have a variety of names to choose from. Bryan Lynn-USA TODAY SportsOption #3: Draft at 14th overall and trade back into the latter part of the first round I will say, the odds of this occurring is the lowest of these three options. To see this occur however would be very, very interesting. Coming into the draft, the Falcons have nine draft picks in their possession and their current salary cap state may prevent them from having the ability to sign all nine draft picks as well as give the well-deserved extensions to veterans Julio Jones and Grady Jarrett. Not to mention, the Falcons have only drafted six prospects in each of the past three drafts and have not selected nine collegiate players since 2014 http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-khalil-mack-jersey , during the Mike Smith era (shudders). For a team that has veteran faces at critical positions such as quarterback, wide receiver, left tackle, center, guard and cornerback, the championship window won’t stay open forever. Normally, teams that are at that stage usually make roll-of-the-dice trades to add talent in key spots with somewhat of a blind eye towards the future.
or Chicago would have predicted the Bucs and Bears would both be in first place when they square off in Week 4.Sure Womens Junior Seau Jersey , it’s still plenty early in the schedule. Yet there’s no denying both teams are ahead of schedule.Although the Buccaneers (2-1) come off a 30-27 home loss to Pittsburgh last Monday night, their offense behind backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been dynamic.Fitzpatrick started the three games for which starter Jameis Winston was suspended and made a strong argument for keeping the job. Fitz leads the NFL with 1,230 yards passing and is second with 11 TD passes. He’s the only player in league history to throw for 400-plus yards in three consecutive games.Winston certainly has been impressed and promises not to make waves.“It’s about the team’s success. I’m not a selfish player, it’s about our team,” Winston said. “We’re out here doing big things, and we’ve got to continue doing that.”Chicago (2-1) is doing big things on defense. The trade with Oakland for Khalil Mack has made a huge impact in the Windy City, making up for a mediocre offense.Mack is tied for the league lead with four sacks, with at least one in each game, and leads the NFL with three forced fumbles.“What he has done is completely elevated everybody else on defense,” coach Matt Nagy said. “When that happens, that’s rare, to have one guy affect a team like that.”Week 4 began with Jared Goff throwing for 465 yards and five touchdowns and getting a perfect quarterback rating in a 38-31 victory over Minnesota. The Rams are 4-0 while the Vikings are 1-2-1 and haven’t won since opening day.On byes are Carolina and Washington.Baltimore (2-1) at Pittsburgh (1-1-1)Classic NFL matchup, Part I.The Steelers have won nine straight games on Sunday nights, twice over the Ravens. But Baltimore has a rekindled offense, with Joe Flacco off to a sizzling start, helped by a trio of new receivers. Newcomer Michael Crabtree leads the Ravens with 15 catches and needs six to reach 600 for his career.Pittsburgh likely gets back top blocker David DeCastro for Ben Roethlisberger, who is 21-3 in regular-season prime-time games at home, throwing for 55 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Roethlisberger has thrown a TD pass in 45 straight home games, the third-longest streak in NFL history. If this comes down to kicking, Baltimore has a huge edge. The Ravens’ Justin Tucker has hit eight straight field goals from 50-plus yards and owns the best FG percentage (90.0) in NFL history. Pittsburgh’s Chris Boswell has hit just one of four field goals; the three misses match his entire 2017 total.Kansas City (3-0) at Denver (2-1), Monday nightClassic NFL matchup, Part II.Another prime-time showcase worth watching, this is a series of streaks. The Chiefs have taken five straight following seven straight losses. The offense is a buzz saw: Kansas City is the third NFL team to score 38 or more points in its first three games (2007 Patriots, who were 16-0; 1967 Colts, who went 11-1-2).Patrick Mahomes has established an NFL record with 13 TDs through three games and zero interceptions to lead the league with a 137.4 passer rating. The second-year QB credits the depth of talent around him.“Guys everywhere,” Mahomes said. “Knowing that I have those weapons, whenever someone has to get a break — we say if you’re tired Doug Flutie Jersey , get a break, because I know I can trust the next guy coming in.”The Chiefs can be scored on, though, and Denver had the NFL’s third-ranked rushing game with rookies Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay, the first undrafted player to eclipse 100 scrimmage yards in his first two NFL games.Plus, linebacker Von Miller , tied for the league lead with four sacks, is a Chiefs nemesis: Miller has eight sacks, 11 tackles for loss against Kansas City.Miami (3-0) at New England (1-2)Classic NFL matchup, Part III.Yes, the Patriots have so dominated the AFC East that we forget there are other teams in the division. This is the one team Tom Brady has fallen to the most, 10 times. Of course, he has beaten the Dolphins 21 times.Indeed, the last time the Dolphins won at New England was 2008, when Brady was sidelined by a knee injury.Miami already has seven interceptions; it had nine all of last season.Meanwhile, the Patriots have struggled to find any consistency. They rank 25th on offense — other than Rob Gronkowski, Brady has little comfort with any receivers — and 28th on defense. Bill Belichick was outcoached by his former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia last Sunday night. But the Patriots have started slowly before and then become unstoppable.Philadelphia (2-1) at Tennessee (2-1)Philly likes playing AFC South squads: The Eagles have won seven straight games against them, the team’s longest active winning streak against any division. This could come down to the running game, particularly if Titans QB Marcus Mariota still is struggling with a right elbow injury that has affected his grip. The Eagles rank first in run defense after finishing first last season and also lead the NFL in time of possession (36:03).Cleveland (1-1-1) at Oakland (0-3)There are good vibes by Lake Erie and bad ones in the Bay Area. The Browns got their first win in 18 games by beating the Jets, and top overall draft choice Baker Mayfield led the way to take over as starting quarterback. Their defense has been relatively stout, led by the No. pick in the 2017 draft, Myles Garrett.Oakland’s decision to trade its best player, Mack, and then the 0-3 start has worn thin any luster on Jon Gruden’s return. The Raiders are last in the NFL with three sacks and tied for last with one takeaway. They have been outscored 37-3 in fourth quarters and are the second team in the last 20 years to start 0-3 when leading all three at halftime.Detroit (1-2) at Dallas (1-2)The Lions got off the schneid with that surprisingly dominant win against New England. They have the top-rated passing offense, but they also are a sieve against the run on defense. With Dallas struggling so much throwing the ball, look for RB Ezekiel Elliott to be very busy in this one. Elliott is tied with the 49ers‘ Matt Breida for the NFL rushing lead with 274 yards.San Francisco (1-2) at Los Angeles Chargers (1-2)Injuries probably have ruined the 49ers’ season. After giving Jimmy Garoppolo his big payday, they will be without him for the remainder of this year after he tore his ACL against KC. C.J. Beathard http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-trevor-williams-jersey , who was in over his head last year in going 1-5, steps in.The Chargers have won the past four meetings and have a dangerous offense behind QB Philip Rivers and a ramped-up running game. Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler form the only pair of running backs on the same team with 250 or more scrimmage yards this season.Cincinnati (2-1) at Atlanta (1-2)Injuries are beginning to ruin the Falcons‘ season, too. They lost free safety Ricardo Allen with a torn Achilles tendon and he joins starters Keanu Neal (knee), a strong safety, and linebacker Deion Jones on the sidelines. Jones underwent foot surgery and is out until at least Nov. 18.Plus, defensive ends Takkarist McKinley and Derrick Shelby are nursing groin injuries. This is Cincinnati’s third road game already, and Atlanta’s third successive home game. The Bengals come in without starting RB Joe Mixon (knee) but are stunningly successful in the red zone. They have points on their last 29 times inside the 20-yard line (21 TDs, 8 FGs), the longest active streak in the NFL.Buffalo (1-2) at Green Bay (1-1-1)On a high after their stunning win at Minnesota as 16 ½-point underdogs, the Bills get another NFC North trip. Hey, it’s always good to do those in September.Buffalo’s rookie quarterback Josh Allen wasn’t intimidated by Minnesota’s staunch and physical defense. Green Bay’s doesn’t come close to resembling that group, and standout runner LeSean McCoy (ribs) vows he will be back.Aaron Rodgers figures to throw a bunch this week, with Davante Adams now his top target.New York Jets (1-2) at Jacksonville (2-1)Coming off a loss that easily could linger, and with safety Jamal Adams saying the Jets weren’t prepared for Mayfield when he replaced Tyrod Taylor in Cleveland’s victory, New York takes on ticked-off Jacksonville. The Jets have won four straight in this series, but those games were mostly against weak Jaguars teams. After the Jags struggled so much vs. Tennessee, they could take it out on rookie Sam Darnold with a sack-happy defense. And Darnold displayed happy feet against the Browns.New Orleans (2-1) at New York Giants (1-2)If Eli Manning gets protection, the Giants are competitive. That happened in last week’s win at Houston, and the Saints have been disappointing defending the pass. The excitement level ramps up in the running game as Giants rookie Saquon Barkley and the Saints’ Alvin Kamara, last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, face off. Also intriguing: Saints WR Michael Thomas leads the league with 38 catches and 398 yards receiving. His catch total is an NFL best in a team’s first three games. New York’s Odell Beckham Jr. has a respectable 24 receptions, even if that pales compared to Thomas.Seattle (1-2) at Arizona (0-3)Two teams with messed-up offenses, although the Seahawks look like an indomitable force compared to Arizona. The Cardinals rank dead last in all offensive categories and have scored a total of 20 points. Now, rookie Josh Rosen will start, and while Seattle’s defense no longer has legion-like boom, it can be tricky and ranks eighth against the pass.A win will tie Pete Carroll with Mike Holmgren for the most coaching victories in Seattle history (90).Houston (0-3) at Indianapolis (1-2)Houston probably is the most disappointing team in the NFL, having gotten back J.J. Watt Womens Desmond King Jersey , Whitney Mercilus and Deshaun Watson for injury, yet not winning at all. Indeed, the Texans‘ last victory came in November 2017.They rarely fare well with Indy, which has a 25-7 edge in the series. The Colts’ next win will be No. 300 since moving from Baltimore to Indianapolis in 1984.Adam Vinatieri needs one field goal to break Morten Andersen’s NFL record (565). Vinatieri also needs three field-goal attempts to pass Gary Anderson (672) for second all-time, and one game played to pass George Blanda (340) for No. 4.Can’t kick about that. Hundreds of prospects who didn’t get drafted are immediately all up for grabs by all 32 teams at once. Not one at a time, but every single team is allowed to contact each of them all that the same time. There are always gems to be found in the undrafted free agent pool, and the Chargers have a fantastic history of doing just that. In fact, the 22 straight seasons that an UDFA has made the (first) 53 man roster at the start of the season is the best streak in the league. This year the Chargers were able to agree to terms with 19 UDFAs, 9 on offense, 9 on defense, and a Punter:Chris Brown, G, USCEurndraus Bryant, NT, NC StateBlack Camper, T, South CarolinaJosh Corcoran, LB, Northern IllinoisJeremy Cox, RB, Old DominionKemon Hall, CB, North TexasDaniel Helm, TE, DukeReggie Howard Brandon Mebane Jersey , DT, ToledoBradford Lemmons, CB, FurmanKoda Martin, G, SyracuseJason Moore, WR, FindlayTyler Newsome, P, Notre DameChris Peace, DE, VirginiaRodney Randle, DB, LamarMatt Sokol, TE, Michigan StateRoderic Teamer, S, TulaneTrevion Thompson, WR, ClemsonTanner Volson, C, North Dakota StateElijah Zeise, LB, PittsburghAs we dive into the list there will be a better idea of who might be leading the pack on paper at who has the best chance of being part of the 23rd straight year of finding a diamond in the rough. But at first glance, I think TE Daniel Helm from Duke has a chance with the need at TE and the fact that his scouting report tells a story a TE who can hold his own as a receiver and a blocker. Time will tell.
with a painful loss that ends a season. Some teams try to move on without dwelling on what happened in the past. Other teams choose to use the memory of the loss as a driver for the future. The Bears have opted for door No. 2. They lost to the Eagles 16-15 in the playoffs in a game that will always be remembered for Bears kicker Cody Parkey’s double doink missed field goal on the final play.Running back Tarik Cohen said on Mad Dog Sports Radio that head coach Matt Nagy showed the team the end of that loss “often” in team meetings this offseason.“He just shows us the last seconds of the game Womens Jalen Mills Jersey ,” Cohen said. “He shows us the crowd reaction, our reaction from the sideline, and he just tells us to never forget that hurt. We want to get back to that place, but have a different outcome. That drives us and motivates us to get through the practice every day.”Parkey’s miss has gotten the most attention and driven a somewhat quixotic search for a new kicker this offseason Brandon Graham Jersey , but there were also offensive shortcomings throughout the game and a late touchdown drive by the Eagles that helped seal Chicago’s fate. Being better in all phases will be necessary for the Bears to take the next step this season and we’ll see if reliving a bad day helps bring that to life. After being called a snake by Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is slithering away from earlier comments that seemed critical of Carson Wentz. The whole thing started when McNabb suggested that if Wentz can’t get the Eagles past the second round of the playoffs, that it might be time to consider drafting a replacement.(While not a wholly unreasonable take about a guy who finished the last two seasons on IR and is still dealing with last year’s back injury, the delivery might have been better.)“For those of you who misread http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-dallas-goedert-jersey , didn’t understand, were confused or just didn’t like my comments let me clarify it for you. Let me start by saying there’s no beef, riff or ill-will toward,” Wentz or the Eagles Womens Rodney McLeod Jersey , McNabb wrote on Twitter this afternoon. “My comments were strictly based off of experience and understanding of how the business of football works. You are consistently evaluated everyday, every game and if you are reliable and or healthy enough to play. I know at times as players and fans it can be confusing to move on from a beloved player but due to the business of health and trust tough decisions are usually made.“Maybe people just didn’t like it because it’s coming from me or I answered a question from one of the talents on the radio the way you didn’t agree with. If that’s how you feel I’m sorry you feel that way. It’s the nature of the game.”Again, McNabb’s not necessarily wrong, and even though the Eagles have said they plan to extend Wentz Alshon Jeffery Jersey , their commitment to the former first-rounder will be measured in dollars and cents and years.
http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.-j.-cann-jersey , a five-game losing streak has devastated the Atlanta Falcons' playoff hopes. This time, the Falcons can't blame injuries. Instead, with the Oct. 29 trade deadline approaching, management could be facing some difficult decisions.Defensive end Vic Beasley Jr. is believed to be available for a trade. It may be time for general manager Thomas Dimitroff and coach Dan Quinn to make more veterans available for trades.Only a dramatic turnaround could save the Falcons (1-6) from a second straight losing season. The poor start threatens Quinn's job security.Quinn said Monday that he and Dimitroff are not viewing this trade deadline in a different light because of the poor record. "We really think about the team a lot, not just now or this week or in this moment Womens Marqise Lee Jersey ," he said. The Falcons have not shown many signs they could stage a turnaround soon. The team has numerous flaws and now could be without quarterback Matt Ryan, who limped off the field with a sprained right ankle in Sunday's 37-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams .The Rams sacked Ryan five times, matching the total by Atlanta's woeful defense through seven games.Quinn said Monday that Ryan won't practice Wednesday but has not been ruled out for this week's game against Seattle.Ryan was leading the NFL with 15 touchdown passes entering Sunday's games, but his excellent start was wasted by poor play on both lines.WHAT'S WORKINGRyan's string of six straight 300-yard games was snapped; he threw for 159 yards before the injury. Julio Jones played well in his high-profile matchup with cornerback Jalen Ramsey, catching six passes for 93 yards. Tight end Austin Hooper continued his impressive season with four catches Telvin Smith Jersey , including a 10-yarder for a touchdown.WHAT NEEDS HELPRyan's status is uncertain because the offensive line provided such poor protection. It was the second time this season the unit allowed five sacks. Wes Schweitzer, playing in a backup role because left guard James Carpenter's playing time was limited by nagging injuries, was beaten by Aaron Donald on the sack that ended with Ryan's injury.Rookie first-round pick Chris Lindstrom (foot) could help at guard if he comes off injured reserve, but he was still in a walking boot on Monday and won't return to practice this week. Another rookie, Kaleb McGary http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-t.j.-yeldon-jersey , is starting at right tackle. Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter says McGary has improved during the season but struggled against the Rams' edge rushers. The offensive line was the focus of the offseason, with investments in the draft and free agency, and yet it remains one of the most glaring weaknesses of the team.STOCK UPMatt Schaub, 38, would make his first start since 2015 with Baltimore if Ryan doesn't return this week. Schaub has 92 career starts Womens Ronnie Harrison Jersey , but he had only a combined 10 pass attempts as Ryan's backup from 2016 through 2018. He completed 6 of 6 passes and led the Falcons to a touchdown drive after Ryan's injury.STOCK DOWNDevonta Freeman was limited to 19 yards on seven carries before being ejected in the third quarter for fighting with Donald. He had a 9-yard run, leaving him the 10 yards on his other six carries. The poor game wiped out any momentum he appeared to gain by rushing for 83 yards against Arizona on Oct. 13.He was remorseful on Monday for throwing a punch at Donald."I shouldn't have been in that position first and foremost because my brothers are out there competing," he said. "I need to be out there at all times. ... It just happened. It can't happen no more."INJUREDRunning back Ito Smith is in the concussion protocol and won't play this week. He left the game with head and neck injuries after Freeman was ejected. Brian Hill and Qadree Ollison could have bigger roles this week behind Freeman.KEY NUMBER19-5 — The Falcons have given up 19 sacks in seven games while the defense ranks last in the NFL with only five sacks, including none in the last four games.NEXT STEPSThe Falcons play the Seahawks at home on Sunday before their bye week. Seattle leads the series 10-8. A report on Sunday indicated that the Jaguars removed the remaining guarantees on running back Leonard Fournette‘s rookie deal as a result of the 2017 first-round pick’s suspension for leaving the bench to join a fight during a game against the Bills.Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone was asked about that report at a Monday press conference and Marrone confirmed, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com Will Richardson Jersey , that the team made the move. Fournette can challenge the move, which affects the $7.1 million salary he’s set to make over the next two seasons. If the guarantees are stripped from that money, the Jaguars would be able to cut Fournette with no financial repercussions. A likelier avenue to pursue would likely be an attempt to trade him to another team in hope of acquiring some draft compensation they can use toward building a better team than the one that was on the field in 2018.Given that Fournette was chastised by executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin at the end of an injury-plagued season marked by limited on-field production, taking one of those two routes and removing Fournette from the roster seems like a real possibility.
social media all season Gale Sayers Jersey , and he thinks that’s part of why he got better in 2018.Trubisky says that when he struggled as a rookie in 2017, he’d sometimes look on Twitter and see people telling him he sucks, and that would wear on him and take his focus away from getting better. Getting off social media this year has put him in a better mental place.“I know what that did to me when I let those voices get inside,” he told ESPN. “It was not good for my mental health. People are one keystroke away from accessing you. Why would I allow people who know nothing about me to have an opinion? Why would I allow them to have that space in my mind?”Trubisky said that when he spent time on social media, he felt like other people were controlling his time.“If you’re conscious of something, then you’re also in control,” Trubisky said. “And that also takes me back to the social media thing — always being in control of your time and your thoughts. Don’t let people on the outside take control. You’re in control of your time, and how you’re working, and your peace of mind, and how you sleep at night.”Those are wise words for anyone who spends too much time on social media. The Chicago Bears kicked off the second half of their regular season on a high note, defeating the Detroit Lions 34-22. Though it was far from a perfect win, it was a win, and an important one at that. The Bears improved to 6-3 with a divisional victory and extended their lead in the NFC North. Here are some of my takeaways from Sunday’s action.OffenseMitchell Trubisky is not Blake Bortles.Trubisky had one of the best games of his career this week. He ended up completing 23 of his 30 passing attempts for a career-high 355 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He looked poised in the pocket, comfortable and ready to strike at any moment. His footwork has looked progressively better throughout the season, which has improved his accuracy as a result. His pocket presence has also improved Womens Walter Payton Jersey , as he is nuch less jittery under pressure than he was in the beginning of the year. Eight of his passes resulted in gains of 20 yards or more, which speaks to his accuracy, Matt Nagy’s confidence in his quarterback, and Chicago’s receivers’ ability to create separation. Trubisky hasn’t been perfect this season, and the fact that Patrick Mahomes, who was drafted after him in 2017, has been having an MVP-caliber season automatically makes him look like a bad pick in the eyes of those who don’t actually pay attention to the team. Despite what some particular pundits may say online, Trubisky is a good quarterback who has proven that he can lead the Bears to the playoffs, as opposed to one who has to rely on his defense to carry him there.Running the ball, the Bears were pretty ineffective. Jordan Howard picked up a nine-yard gain on the very first offensive play of the game but failed to pick up a gain that went for longer than that. Tarik Cohen had a lackluster game, as well, only gaining 15 yards on seven carries. He also caught six passes, but he only ended up with a total of 29 yards. A new-look Detroit run defense led by stud defensive tackle Damon Harrison Sr. did a number on Chicago’s ground game, but their secondary failed to slow down an electric Bears passing attack.Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller both put together their best performances of the season on Sunday. A-Rob was the dominant presence that the Bears signed him to be, catching six passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns in his return from injury. He made a phenomenal touchdown grab on a contested ball in the end zone on a 45-yard bomb, putting his size and physicality to good use. Miller has the best game of his career with five receptions http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-singletary-jersey , 122 yards and a touchdown. He showed off the ability to separate from cornerbacks and pick up yards after the catch that had him so highly touted coming out of Memphis. Trey Burton also caught four passes for 40 yards, and he caught a two-point conversion pass from Trubisky in the third quarter. It’s encouraging to see so many weapons in Chicago’s offense doing well this year, and the presumptive return of Adam Shaheen from injury next week should open up even more opportunities for them to get open looks.Although the Bears’ run blocking was less than ideal, they did a good job of giving Trubisky a fairly clean pocket. He was only sacked once, and he was given several chances to deliver darts under very little pressure. Though unlikely they play that well every week in their stretch of divisional games, it was a good sign to see them successful against an underrated Detroit pass rush.DefenseThe Bears took their feet off the gas pedal in the fourth quarter, as they allowed 12 points in the span of one minute and nine seconds. Granted, a recovered onside kick gave the Lions very good field position on their second touchdown drive of the quarter, but Chicago’s defense was not fantastic late. Still, their performance in the first three quarters was nothing short of great.Khalil Mack made his triumphant return from injury on Sunday, and he came back in a way that only he could: by dominating. Despite missing the previous two weeks, he finished the game with five tackles and two sacks. His impact was definitely evident throughout the game, as he opened up opportunities for several teammates. Leonard Floyd continued his hot streak by snagging that ever-so-elusive first sack of the season. Bilal Nichols, who was limited with a knee injury, also picked up a sack and a forced fumble.Roquan Smith had another good game, picking up 10 total tackles Womens Dick Butkus Jersey , a sack and a pass deflection. His speed and ranginess really helps the Bears get bailed out on some plays that may otherwise blow past the second level. Danny Trevathan picked up five tackles of his own.Kyle Fuller didn’t have any pass deflections or interceptions this week, but he did a good job in coverage for the most part. Save an allowed touchdown catch by Kenny Golladay, Fuller had a solid game. Prince Amukamara wasn’t necessarily perfect, but he lit up the stat sheet with eight tackles, two pass deflections, one interception and two forced fumbles. Bryce Callahan had yet another fantastic game, tallying five tackles, two pass deflections, an interception and a sack on a nickel blitz. He should be Chicago’s top priority to bring back this offseason, as he has been one of, if not the best nickelback in the league. Both Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos had their fair share of mistakes, but neither of them were particularly terrible. Jackson in particular showed some tenacity as a tackler and added on a pass deflection. While not an elite safety duo, they have more than serviceable for most of the year and complement each other well.Three and out3. Cody Parkey...yikes. The kicker, who was signed to a four-year, $15 million deal this past offseason, missed both of his field goal attempts and missed two of his four extra point attempts. Every single one of them hit the goalpost. Between this William Perry Jersey , Pat O’Donnell’s struggles and an inability to both defend and return kickoffs, Chicago’s special teams might just be one of their biggest weaknesses at the moment. Poor performance on the third phase could potentially cost the Bears down the line if they don’t get something figured out.2. Many have compared Trubisky to Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, the two other quarterbacks selected in the first round of the 2017 draft. Because of the latter two quarterbacks’ success on a national stage, many have forgotten about Trubisky and have considered him to be a bust. Let’s break down how each signal-caller has done so far this year.Trubisky: 9 games, 2,304 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 65.5 completion percentage, 6-3 team recordMahomes: 10 games, 3,150 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 67.0 completion percentage, 9-1 team recordWatson: 9 games http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-ditka-jersey , 2,389 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 64.9 completion percentage, 6-3 team recordMahomes has easily been the best quarterback of the three, even if you take out the extra game he has played. However, Trubisky’s performance has been on par with, if not better than that of Watson, who has been praised much more often by the national media. While one can argue that Mahomes is the best quarterback of the class - which is definitely warranted with the way he has played this year - all three of them are playing at a high level and are helping their teams win. 1. The Bears take on the Vikings next week in a Sunday night matchup, and it is one that promises to be a fun one to watch. Chicago currently sits as the two-point favorites, but Minnesota could realistically come away with the win. The Vikings are 4-1 in their last five matchups, and their lone loss came against the red-hot New Orleans Saints. Their defense is playing better than the one that gave up 27 points to the Buffalo Bills, and their offense seems to be clicking quite nicely. The Bears are themselves in the midst of a hot streak, having won their last three games. Next week will surely be an entertaining battle for NFC North supremacy.
And http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-craig-mager-jersey , now, he has the opportunity to take over as Buffalo’s starting quarterback.Bills coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday the rookie will make his first career start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.Allen replaces second-year pro Nathan Peterman, who struggled badly in a 47-3 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. Peterman threw for 24 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by Allen in the second half.McDermott declined to elaborate on his thought process behind the decision, instead saying it was “the right move” for his team more than 10 times.“I don’t feel the need, honestly, to elaborate,” McDermott said. “We talk a lot in-house about decisions and things and what we’ve got to do and the right move at the right time, and right now, with all respect to your question, this is the right move for us.”The move is a jarring and significant change for Buffalo, which planned on bringing along the strong-armed, raw passer at a calculated and methodical rate before inserting him into the lineup. Chosen seventh overall this spring, Allen has ideal physical tools but has been considered a developmental prospect at the position. The Bills, however, were forced into making a change following one of the worst losses in franchise history.“Whoever’s the quarterback, we’ve got to roll,” running back LeSean McCoy said. “I’m confident in Josh. He’s very talented, he’s extremely smart, intelligent. So I’m happy with the move. Nate’s a good friend of mine, he had his shot. We’ve got to move on. That’s the type of business this is.”Allen did his best to downplay the significance of his first career start while acknowledging that it was a lifelong dream.“I’ve got game experience and now I’m just starting a game,” Allen said. “I’m just looking to do my job Womens Uchenna Nwosu Jersey , try and be 1/11th of this team and this offense, and just help this team in any way possible to win football games.”“Obviously I’m super excited and thankful for the chance to be the starter of this team. This is something I’ve dreamed for a long time. But now that it’s here, come Sunday I’m just trying to do my job. I’m not trying to do too much. Trust in those around me and ultimately trying to be the quarterback that this team needs.”Allen got a taste of regular-season action Sunday against Baltimore, entering the game when it was well out of reach in the third quarter. He showed some flashes while enduring his share of growing pains, completing 6 of 15 passes for 74 yards while being sacked three times.McDermott saw some positives in that time, noting Allen wasn’t overwhelmed by the circumstances.“I thought his command of the offense was there,” McDermott said. “There were some things that he did well in getting us in and out of the huddle. Those are the things you don’t take for granted when a young player’s out there. And then after the snap, executed fairly well at times, and there were other times where we need to execute better.”It’s not just the quarterbacks who struggled against Baltimore, however, and the Bills will need a lot more from their other positions to have any chance of rebounding against the Chargers. The Bills were blown out by Los Angeles last season, 54-24. That was Peterman’s first career start, when the QB tossed five interceptions in one half. Now the Chargers will face Allen in his first career start.“The one thing I’m going to talk to the offense about, especially the skill guys, is that (the key) for a rookie quarterback to have a good game is to make it easy on them,” McCoy said. “Catching the ball, giving him confidence, moving the chains … everything to get that extra advantage is critical and big for a rookie’s confidence.”“If I had to draft a quarterback, I would draft a kid like him,” McCoy added. “He’s mobile, he’s tall Russell Okung Jersey , he’s strong. He’s not afraid, he’s smart and has a big arm.”NOTES: The Bills claimed guard Ike Boettger off waivers from Kansas City on Wednesday. Boettger joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent this spring but was released as part of final cuts on Sept. 1. Buffalo released cornerback Ryan Lewis to make room for Boettger. … The Bills also signed Kyle Peko to their practice squad, releasing offensive lineman Gerhard de Beer.___ LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Mike and Maurkice Pouncey were among the first players off the AFC Pro Bowl practice field Thursday. They were trying to hustle to the locker room to shower, change and get on the road. They had people waiting. More than 50 of them, actually.“This is our family vacation,” Los Angeles Chargers center Mike Pouncey said. The tattooed twins grew up about 30 miles west of Disney World, won a national championship two hours up the road at Florida and have made a combined 11 Pro Bowls in 15 seasons. But they’ve haven’t practiced or played on the same field so close to home since their high school days in Lakeland, Florida. So they decided to go all out for friends and relatives at the Pro Bowl. They rented a spacious, nine-bedroom house for the week, secured two luxury suites for the NFL’s annual all-star game Sunday and doled out dozens of more tickets.“It means so much,” Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey said. “It’s bigger than our family. It’s a community in Florida here that’s supported us for so long. We couldn’t be happier to have them out here and soaking it all in.”While the Pounceys appear to have the largest entourage on hand, they are hardly alone in treating the Pro Bowl as a family affair. Warm weather, VIP access to theme parks and a lax practice environment create an ideal vacation spot for those closest to the players.Retiring Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams, who said he has no second thoughts about giving up the game after 13 seasons, brought his mom, his mother-in-law, his wife, their five kids, plus a niece and a nephew to town.“The opportunity to come out and kind of a last hooray so to speak with the game and being able to share the week with my family and go to Disney, do the whole thing http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-emanuel-jersey , bring them to practice. It’s kind of a cherry on top. It’s a great way to go out.”Williams rented “the whole corner of the 15th floor at the hotel” for his group. They arrived a day early to make the first of two trips to Disney World. They also plan to visit Universal Studios.“It’s a big week,” Williams said. “Eighty degrees in January is hard to beat.”Tennessee Titans punter Brett Kern made his first Pro Bowl last year and watched veteran quarterback Drew Brees bring his three young boys to every event, including practice.“I saw Drew’s kids in our locker room asking Antonio Brown for jerseys and asking players for autographs, and the guys were open to it,” Kern said. “I figured if I ever get back, I’m going to bring my son around to everything, bus rides, all we do as a team.”Kern made it back, brought his wife and three kids and now has his 9-year-old son Bryce in tow for the week. Bryce brought about 50 player cards to get signed, but he spent Thursday’s practice playing football with Williams’ three sons and a few others, and then he worked as a team reporter for the Titans. The Pounceys have even more on their agenda. They have the usual Disney trips on tap along with nightly dance parties starring all the youngsters in the rental home.“We know after this is all over, the vacation is done and it’s back to work,” Maurkice Pouncey said. The brothers flipped a coin to decide who would take the first snap in practice Wednesday and they already have talked to coaches about getting to play side by side in the game. They got to do that during the 2015 Pro Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. It was the first time they shared a field since 2009.But this would be different because so many friends and family members will be on hand.“It’s awesome,” Mike Pouncey said. “This brings back so many great memories. Our Florida days were some of the best times of our lives. We had one of the greatest college football teams ever. To be back out here playing again on the same football field is moments we won’t forget.”They are considering a little trickery, too. They talked about possibly swapping helmets during the game. The identical twins both wear No. 53 and expect to have just their last name on the backs of their jerseys. So would anyone — even all those closest to them — even notice a quick switch-a-roo?“Maybe I’ll be a Charger for a play,” Maurkice Pouncey said. “You never know.”
the Eagles intend to re-sign Jay Ajayi. The Eagles could open up a roster spot for him by placing Darren Sproles on injured reserve.ORIGINAL STORY BELOW.Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi is visiting the NovaCare Complex on Friday Brandon Graham Jersey , according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The 26-year-old Ajayi hasn’t suited up since tearing his ACL in last year’s October 7 Eagles versus Vikings game. Ajayi was also playing through a fractured back before his 2018 season was cut short. Ajayi has been a free agent since March and he’s garnered some workouts since then but no team has been willing to sign him. That could change on Friday with his visit to Philly. The Eagles could suddenly find themselves needing another running back. Darren Sproles seemingly re-aggravated his quadriceps injury after unexpectedly missing Thursday’s practice. Eagles leading rusher Jordan Howard has been limited in practice this week due to a shoulder injury suffered in the Bears game. If both Sproles and Howard can’t play, the Eagles would be down to just Miles Sanders and Boston Scott in the backfield. Ajayi was an effective contributor for the Eagles after they acquired him ahead of the 2017 NFL trade deadline. In 14 games with Philly (including playoffs), the man they call the Jay Train logged 157 carries for 776 yards (4.9 average), and four rushing touchdowns. He also had 21 receptions for 181 yards and one score. On the downside, ball security was an issue as Ajayi did have four fumbles. It remains to be seen if Ajayi can still be a valuable contributor following his injury. The Eagles will check up on his medicals during Friday’s visit. The fact the team is bringing him in so late in the week seems like a strong indicator they’ll actually sign him http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-dallas-goedert-jersey , but we’ll see. Ajayi had nine carries for 57 yards (6.3 average) in the Eagles’ win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Maybe he can help Philly beat the Pats again this weekend? The Eagles haven’t decided (or just haven’t told us) whether Carson Wentz is going to play in the preseason opener Thursday.Wentz, for his part, doesn’t seem to care. The Eagles quarterback gave the most tepid endorsement possible of the possibility of playing Thursday, which coach Doug Pederson hasn’t said he’d do or not.“Preseason’s helpful, but I don’t think it’s a necessity Womens Rodney McLeod Jersey ,” Wentz said, via Reuben Frank of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “No matter how much I’m out there I’ll be confident in Week One. . . .“I think a little bit is helpful. But it’s definitely never needed.”That’s probably a universal sentiment, though you’d understand why the Eagles might want to get him some time during an exhibition game, if not Thursday’s against the Titans.Wentz didn’t play at all during last year’s preseason while rehabbing his knee, and while he missed the end of last season with his back injury Alshon Jeffery Jersey , there’s no apparent problem there.“It’s his decision,” Wentz said of Pederson. “I’ll be ready either way. Whenever it is we get out there I’ll be ready and I’m excited for it.”Excited. Or something.
ankle limited his effectiveness last Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. He tweaked it early and he simply wasn’t the same stylin’ and profilin’ Pat O'Donnell Jersey , Mack-attacking, quarterback sacking, football stripping, tight end chipping, wheelin’ n’ dealin’ son of a gun that we’re accustomed to seeing. Multiple reports have him playing this Sunday against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but he’s officially listed as questionable. Mack was limited in practice today, as was wide out Allen Robinson II, who is also listed as questionable with groin injury.Nickleback Bryce Callahan is also listed as questionable, but he was held out of Friday’s practice with an ankle injury that he suffered yesterday. There was only one other Chicago Bears player on the injury report, and cornerback Marcus Cooper (hamstring) is listed as doubtful. Offensive guard Eric Kush (neck) and cornerback Prince Amukamara (hamstring) were both full participants at practice today, and neither appeared on the injury report. If Callahan and Cooper can’t go, we may see some Sherrick McManis on defense this week. Patriots’ starting right tackle Marcus Cannon hasn’t practiced all week with a concussion http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-long-jersey , and he will not play on Sunday. The Pats list 10 players as questionable and they are as follows. Julian Edelman WR HeelJosh Gordon WR HamstringRob Gronkowski TE Ankle/BackJacob Hollister TE HamstringSony Michel RB KneeEric Rowe DB GroinJohn Simon DE ShoulderDeatrich Wise Jr. DL Ankle / KneeGeneo Grissom DL AnkleMalcom Brown DL KneeKnowing the Patriots, all those guys questionable guys are going to play. While saying another 139-game start streak would be "a long one," Matthew Stafford hopes to get back on the field as quickly as possible. The Lions quarterback knew Saturday night that he would not start Sunday's game in Chicago but held out hope until the morning of that day he would dress despite a back and hip injury."It's tough. I love playing this game," Stafford said Monday. "I work really hard to be out there for my teammates and wasn't able to do it."It was a tough pill to swallow."Jeff Driskel relieved Stafford as the Lions lost 20-13 in Chicago. He was 27 of 46 for 269 yards, one touchdown and one interception.Stafford and coach Matt Patricia said the quarterback's availability would be a day-to-day, week-to-week decision moving forward for the Lions (3-5-1), who host Dallas on Sunday.Patricia said scans on Stafford's back Friday showed an injury that he would likely not be able to play with. Patricia said the team extended Saturday's walkthrough to get Driskel more reps. The team was informed Saturday that Stafford might not be able to play, but Stafford held out hope that he might be able to dress. The ultimate decision came Sunday morning."Knowing Matthew Stafford, he wants to play," Patricia said Monday. "He's extremely tough, he's extremely competitive. And honestly, we spent most of Saturday trying to figure out way Womens Tom Waddle Jersey , if there was a way, for him to play safely."Stafford was in a hooded sweatshirt and helped coax Driskel as much as he could on game day, admitting the first Lions game since 2011 without him starting was a strange one."It was an odd feeling," Stafford said. "I was probably in one of the weirder places mentally than I've been in a long time watching that game. Just trying to pull for the guys, and obviously it was a close game down to the wire. I was just hoping we could come away with it."WHAT'S WORKINGThe offensive line responded strongly to the challenge of the Bears tough defensive front.Tackles Taylor Decker, Rick Wagner and Tyrell Crosby kept star linebacker Khalil Mack quiet with three tackles and no sacks, and Chicago had two sacks for the game.WHAT NEEDS HELPIf Driskel is the guy going forward, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell might need to open the playbook to play to his backup's strengths.Driskel threw a bad interception in the third quarter to linebacker Nick Kwiatkowski and connected with wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones for eight receptions, tied for second-to-last this season for their combined output."Certainly, there are some plays out there that we would like to have back in those situations, but I thought he handled the situation really well," Patricia said. "I thought he tried to do everything he could to help the offense."STOCK UPLinebacker Jarrad Davis played his least amount of snaps on the season but may have had his best game.In a linebacker rotation with rookie Jahlani Tavai and others Sam Acho Jersey , Davis played a season-low 77 percent of snaps, but looked more comfortable against the run with eight tackles."It was something that we had kind of scripted through the game of like, 'Hey, we're going to give certain guys rest during these series and roll them in and out,'" Patricia said. "I think from that standpoint, some of those rotational type of series, I thought they helped."STOCK DOWNDespite being drafted No. 8 overall, tight end T.J. Hockenson still has not been a big part of the offense. After catching six passes for 131 yards in Week 1 against Arizona, Hockenson has averaged 2.4 receptions and 26.5 receiving yards per game with one total touchdown. On Sunday with a backup quarterback throwing short passes, Hockenson had three catches for 47 yards.INJUREDThere's a bunch for Detroit, with Wagner and running back Ty Johnson joining linebacker Miles Killebrew in the concussion protocol, Patricia said.In addition to Stafford's status going forward http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-devin-hester-jersey , defensive linemen Mike Daniels (leg) and Kevin Strong (ribs) left Sunday's game early, while Romeo Okwara (groin) and Da'Shawn Hand (ankle) missed the game, along with safety Tracy Walker (knee).KEY NUMBER5-15: Detroit's record without Stafford at the helm throughout his career.Since Stafford was drafted first overall in 2009, the Lions have been without him for 20 games, including Sunday's loss. They went 0-6 without him during his rookie season, then 5-8 with Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton in Year 2.The Lions haven't had to deal with that since 2011, but the early returns suggest this time it wouldn't be pretty this time either.NEXT STEPSThe Lions need to find a way to beat divisional foes, starting the season 0-3 against the NFC North. One game each awaits with Chicago, Minnesota and Green Bay, with Dallas and Washington up next before a Thanksgiving rematch with the Bears.
looked almost ready for the regular season from their first series.Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks probably feel like they’ve got more work to do.Melvin Gordon rushed for a short touchdown to cap a strong 70-yard opening drive by the Chargers’ first-team offense http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-emanuel-jersey , and Rivers went 6 of 7 for 62 yards in Los Angeles’ 24-14 preseason victory over the Seahawks on Saturday night.JJ Jones returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown late in the first half, and Mike Williams caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith in the second half of a solid performance by the Chargers (1-1) in the preseason home opener of their second season at compact StubHub Center. While Rivers played only two series, Wilson was 13 of 21 for 193 yards while playing the entire first half for the Seahawks (0-2). His offense was limited to two field goals by execution mistakes in the red zone, and Wilson was repeatedly flushed from the pocket by Melvin Ingram while the Chargers’ destructive pass rusher had an outstanding first half.David Moore made the Seahawks’ biggest play of the first half, hauling in a 52-yard catch between two Chargers downfield. Seattle could have kept it closer, but Chris Carson had a touchdown run waved off by a penalty and later fumbled at the goal line in the first half.Rivers’ work was shorter but still valuable, including a few plays on which the veteran capably eluded the Seattle rush and made strong throws on the run.Smith then made a strong argument for the backup job, going 6 of 8 for 85 yards. His TD pass came on an eye-opening catch by Williams, who jumped over Seattle cornerback Akeem King and hauled in the first score of his NFL career for a 21-6 lead.Williams was the seventh overall pick in last year’s draft, but the Clemson product’s career got off to a slow start because of injuries. He is healthy and eager to become a force in the Chargers’ already bulging receiving corps alongside Pro Bowler Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams.Seahawks rookie Alex McGough led a solid drive in the final minutes, hitting Malik Turner with a 12-yard touchdown pass.Robert Aguayo hit a 39-yard field goal with 40 seconds left Womens Forrest Lamp Jersey , boosting his bid to win the Chargers’ kicking job.KICKING INJones made another argument for a spot on the regular-season roster with a spectacular burst through the heart of the Seahawks’ punt coverage team on the way to a score. The undrafted free agent from West Georgia has turned heads throughout camp.INJURIESChargers: S Jaylen Watkins started, but was helped off the field late in the first half with a right knee injury. Ingram fell on his teammate on the play, and Watkins couldn’t put weight on his leg.ANTHEM UPDATEChargers left tackle Russell Okung raised his right fist during the national anthem. Three Seahawks stayed off the field during the anthem for the second consecutive week: offensive tackle Duane Brown, defensive end Branden Jackson and defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson.UP NEXTSeahawks: At the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 24.Chargers: Host the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 25. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers have been short-handed the first three weeks of the season without their top two pass rushers. On Sunday, that lack of a pass rush was one of the biggest reasons why they lost to their cross-town rivals. The Chargers were only able to get one sack against Jared Goff in a 35-23 loss to the Rams at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. A non-existent pass rush allowed Goff to pick the Chargers apart, throwing for 354 yards and three touchdowns.“We couldn’t get off the field. I think the first half, he completed 90 percent of his passes,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said. “We have to figure out how to get pressure on the quarterback.”The Chargers (1-2) will get defensive tackle Corey Liuget back after next Sunday’s game against San Francisco when his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances ends. But Joey Bosa’s return date is less certain. Lynn sounded after Sunday’s game that the third-year defensive end won’t be returning anytime soon.“We’re feeling it (the losses of Liuget and Bosa) but we have to do something to get the quarterback on the ground. That is up to me and everyone up front,” nose tackle Damion Square said. The Chargers got pressure on Goff only three of the 37 times he dropped back to pass. The 8.1 percent is the fourth worst pressure rate on a quarterback in this week’s games according to Sportradar. He had an average time of 2.90 seconds to throw, which is more than this week’s league average of 2.72 seconds. The lack of pressure is why Goff was able to complete 29 of 36 passes. The 80.6 completion rate ties for the second highest against the Chargers since 2010. Goff completed 13 of his first 14 throws and was 21 of 25 for 216 yards in the first half.Even when the Chargers were able to force a third down, they were rarely able to get a stop. The Rams — who punted only once in 10 possessions — converted eight of 11 third downs, including three where there were 6 or more yards to go.“It was on us on defense. We couldn’t get a stop. We made them punt one time Mike Williams Jersey ,” safety Derwin James said. “The offense put up enough points.”Even when the Chargers were able to make a play on defense, they had something else happen. James picked off Goff on a pass intended for Gerald Everett in the end zone, but instead of a touchback, the momentum carried him out of the end zone and the Chargers took over their own 1.With the pick, James joined Dallas’ Bill Bates as the only rookie defensive backs in a non-strike year to have two sacks and an INT in their first three games. One solution for the Chargers to dial up more pressure might be playing James closer to the line of scrimmage. They did that the first two weeks, but he played deeper and was more of a natural free safety because of the Rams’ deep threats.“Sometimes when I blitz, I get in my rhythm,” James said. “At the end of the day, we have to execute as a defense. We have to mix it up and the guys that have 1-on-1 matchups have to win.”One of the few saving graces for the Chargers is that they already faced two of the league’s most potent offenses the first three weeks of the season in the Chiefs and Rams. In Week 1, Kansas City beat the Chargers 38-28 as Patrick Mahomes threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns . But much like against the Rams, the Chargers only sacked Mahomes once in that game, too.Things figure to get slightly easier the next two weeks with home games against San Francisco http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-darius-philon-jersey , who may have lost Jimmy Garoppolo for the year to a knee injury, and Oakland.“It was a similar game from Week 1, for sure. They’ve got good talent at receiver, great running back, good quarterback. They kind of have a similar playbook, you see (play) actions, you see boots (bootlegs), you see motions,” cornerback Desmond King said. “We’re going to bounce back, for sure. We can’t let this loss affect us.”
..Super Bowl 2019: Brian Dawkins explains why Tom Brady is one of ‘top one or two’ QBs in NFL history - CBS SportsAfter stepping down from his full-time position with the team three months after celebrating Philly’s title http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-wes-hopkins-jersey , Dawkins explained Thursday why both sides went their separate ways. ”I want to bless people with increase -- mentally, spiritually and physically,” he said. “God had me stop being an executive for the Philadelphia Eagles to start my own foundation to bless people, to give people hope. That’s a giving thing. And as a man of God, that’s what I’m supposed to be doing.”What the Eagles should do at defensive end - BGNBrandon Graham is set to be a free agent this offseason and it’s very possible the Eagles might not be able to retain him. Spotrac projects Graham to receive a contract worth $80 million over five years. That’s a lot of money to be investing in a 30-year-old pass rusher, especially for a cap-strapped team like Philly. The feeling here is that the Eagles should try their best to keep Graham around. His game should age well as he’s more of a power rusher than a speed rusher. He also doesn’t have as much tread on his tires since he only started 13 games in the first five years of his career. Graham is a great locker room presence and he also just happened to make the biggest play in Eagles history by strip-sacking Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII. Graham slayed the dragon in a situation where Brady is typically unstoppable. It’ll be impossible to blame Graham if he leaves for a big offer in free agency; he deserves to make as much money as he can. But losing him will be a big loss for the Eagles. It’ll be really sad to see him go.BGN Memories #3: Super Bowl LII - BGN RadioIn the third installment of BGN Memories, John Stolnis tells the tale of the Philadelphia Eagles win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52! Nobody can take Super Bowl LII away from the Eagles and the fans and the City of Philadelphia and everybody who loves the Birds.Rams safety John Johnson III gains Eagles fans after mocking the Saints | Super Bowl LIII notes - Daily NewsAfter New Orleans beat the Eagles in a divisional playoff, Ingram and Kamara wore the masks during postgame interviews. And then a video of the players wearing masks and celebrating in the locker room to the sounds of Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” — the Eagles’ 2017 rallying cry — was posted on social media. “That was more disrespectful. Meek Mill’s from Philly. That’s definitely their thing,” Johnson said. “So I was like, ‘Come on now.’ ” Johnson said that he was also sticking up for friends he has on the Eagles. He played high school football in the D.C. area against safety Tre Sullivan, and said he knew safety Rodney McLeod also because of their similar hometown roots. Johnson cited cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Rasul Douglas as acquaintances, as well. The second-year Boston College product has gained more friends in the Philly area and has given some Eagles fans another reason to root against the Patriots on Sunday. “I’ve gotten a lot of comments on Instagram Wilbert Montgomery Jersey , direct message on Instagram,” Johnson said. “It’s cool. 鈥?It’s good to know somebody’s behind us. I know when we play [the Eagles] again it won’t be like that. But for this game, it’s pretty cool.”Top-10 running backs set to hit free agency - PFF6) Tearing his ACL in October, Jay Ajayi may be forced into a one-year, prove-it deal before he signs anything long term despite entering free agency at just 25 years old. The former Boise State phenom has flashed high-end potential at various points in his career, most of which coming in his first two years with the Miami Dolphins. Ajayi earned 75.2 and 80.3 overall grades in 2015 and 2016, respectively. He also averaged at least 3.04 yards after contact per carry in each of his first three seasons in the NFL and forced 40-plus missed tackles in 2016 and 2017. He did so during the 2014 season which was one of the best of his career. Five years later Jerry isn’t hiding anything, his message is loud and clear. It’s now or never.Super Bowl LIII Preview - Football OutsidersMuch like the Eagles with Nick Foles a year ago, the Rams have to trust Jared Goff to have a big game against the Patriots. Naturally, there is skepticism over him doing so, because there has always been skepticism of Goff during his NFL career. We couldn’t write a 2016 stat study that didn’t show how frighteningly bad his rookie season was. While he improved so much statistically in 2017, a lot of the credit went to McVay for an offense that was built heavily on YAC and easier throws to the slot. Goff took things to another level in 2018, but there was still that ugly three-game stretch after the bye where he averaged 5.6 yards per attempt and threw one touchdown to six interceptions. Overall Womens Harold Carmichael Jersey , Goff’s numbers have dropped substantially since the Rams’ bye week. Anecdotally, the decline is tied to the loss of slot receiver Cooper Kupp, although Goff was fine in the first game without Kupp (Week 11, the big Monday Night game against Kansas City). It’s since the bye week that he has struggled.Patriots or Rams? NFL execs predict the Super Bowl LIII winner - ESPN In$iderI like the Patriots to win, maybe 31-17. The Rams have gotten big plays on the throwback screens. New England has two weeks to take those things away, and the Pats are not letting them get a big play on the screens. The Rams are going to have to make big plays down the field, which they have done. I just don’t know how many they will get. What’s scary for the Rams is New England has run more plays than any other team in the NFL. The Pats had 90-some plays against Kansas City. If they run more than 80 plays, the Rams won’t have the ball enough to score enough to win. The Detroit game [30-16 Rams victory in Week 13] was telling because the Rams struggled to move the ball. It is the same style, the same scheme that Belichick runs. You know Matt Patricia and Belichick are talking. The difference in that game was the Rams got a sack-fumble in the fourth quarter to pull away, but it was a close game until then.Super Bowl 53 Matchups - RotoworldAlthough Jared Goff did enough to eke out one-score Divisional and NFC Championship wins over the Cowboys and Saints, Goff has remained hit or miss game to game, quarter to quarter, and even down to down. He’s cleared 7.5 yards per pass attempt twice in his last seven starts – versus Arizona and at San Francisco in Weeks 16 and 17 – and Goff’s when-pressured struggles didn’t subside in January. The NFL’s 28th-rated passer under duress (59.8) among 38 qualifiers in 2018, Goff’s 43.2 under-pressure QB rating ranks dead last among 12 playoff QBs. Although New England isn’t widely seen as a pass-rush team, Pats opponents Philip Rivers (45%) and Patrick Mahomes (50%) were the NFL’s most-pressured quarterbacks in the second- and third-postseason rounds. As Goff has thrown seven interceptions in seven games since the Rams’ Week 12 bye – four when pressured – and Brady’s pass attempts tend to spike in the postseason http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-randall-cunningham-jersey , I like the over on prop bets for 1.5 INTs (+120) combined for the game, Goff to throw an interception at any point (+145), and Goff to throw the first pick (-110). Prop bets for Goff to throw an interception before he throws a touchdown pass provide especially return-friendly odds (+240).Battle of the Blueprints: How to Build a Super Bowl Contender in the Modern NFL - The RingerAfter a series of aggressive moves via trade and free agency, the Rams were all in on 2018. It’s the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl for the ninth time in the last two decades and the third year in a row. For fans in Boston, it’s awesome. For most of the rest of the country, it’s time to become a fan of the Los Angeles Rams. In SB Nation’s FanPulse poll this week, over 1,700 fans responded with their Super Bowl picks. He returned in Week 4 but he must have suffered a setback in Week 5 because he didn’t participate in practice this week. Now his season is (potentially) over. This is a pretty disappointing development. Clement showed so promising potential as a rookie; he was the Eagles’ leading receiver in Super Bowl LII as he had four catches for 100 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles were said to be high on Clement heading into 2018 but he was impacted by injuries. Now he’s heading to IR for the second year in a row. The Eagles could opt to active Clement from IR after eight weeks pass but that’s not a sure bet.Clement’s re-injury comes at a pretty inconvenient time for the Eagles because he was poised to have an increased role with Darren Sproles hurt. Clement would’ve been the third running back behind Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders. He also might’ve been returning punts for Philly. Now it’s Scott — who appeared in two regular season games and two playoff games last season — who will be the Eagles’ third string running back. Scott fits the Sproles mold though he’s obviously not nearly as proven; Scott hasn’t logged a single offensive touch.Scott also lacks experience as a punt returner, which is concerning because the Eagles could be counting on him to fill that role. Scott didn’t return any punts in college and he’s never done it an NFL regular season or playoff game. He’s only returned one punt the preseason for 13 yards in addition to logging two fair catches. Scott unsurprisingly didn’t look super comfortable returning punts for the Eagles in the preseason.Current Eagles practice squad[Vacant spot]CB Ajene HarrisWR Robert DavisWR Greg WardQB Kyle LaulettaWR Marcus GreenTE Joshua PerkinsOG Sua OpetaDT Bruce HectorLB Alex Singleton
LAKE FOREST http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-aaron-lynch-jersey , Ill. (AP)The Chicago Bears were looking for a coach to get the most out of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and help a founding NFL franchise emerge from one of its worst runs. They believe Matt Nagy is the right man. The Bears hired Kansas City’s offensive coordinator as their 16th head coach Monday, hoping he can develop their promising quarterback and turn around a struggling team. The Bears announced the move a week after firing coach John Fox, who went 14-34 in three seasons for a .292 winning percentage that is the second-lowest in team history. Chicago was 5-11 this season and hasn’t finished above .500 since letting Lovie Smith go following a 10-6 finish in 2012, two years after its most recent visit to the playoffs. The 39-year-old Nagy spent the past 10 seasons working under Andy Reid in Philadelphia and Kansas City. He did not call plays until late this season, but drew praise for his work with Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. In Chicago, the former quarterback at Delaware and then the Arena Football League will be trying to develop Trubisky, last year’s No. 2 overall draft pick. ”He’s a good football coach, first of all,” Reid said. ”I appreciate the way he comes to work and the attitude he brings. He puts his own flare on things. I think that’s important to know. Everybody does it their way.” Nagy coached in high school and was still working in real estate when he served as a coaching intern with the Eagles during training camp in 2008 and 2009. He got a big break, though it came with a pay cut, when he took the job as a coaching assistant during the 2010 season. Bears general manager Ryan Pace has plenty riding on him. Pace put his reputation on the line when he traded up a spot with San Francisco to draft Trubisky even though he made just 13 college starts at North Carolina. It’s up to Nagy to help polish a quarterback who showed some promise with his strong arm and quickness after he took over for Mike Glennon. If Trubisky succeeds Kevin White Jersey , there’s a good chance the Bears start winning. That would likely mean a long future in Chicago for Pace, who recently got a contract extension through the 2021 season. The Chiefs won the AFC West, only to blow an 18-point halftime lead in a playoff loss to Tennessee on Saturday. That didn’t stop the Bears from moving quickly on Nagy, interviewing him Sunday and hiring him a day later. Chicago also met with Philadelphia quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, offensive coordinators Pat Shurmur (Minnesota) and Josh McDaniels (New England), Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards and Chicago defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. There were no known second interviews. Though the defense performed well under Fangio, Nagy inherits a roster with holes. The Bears had no playmaking receivers, and their offensive line got banged up this season. Pace has had some big hits in the draft such as running back Jordan Howard (2016, fifth round) and notable misses such as oft-injured receiver Kevin White (2015, first round). Injuries have consistently exposed a lack of depth, and Pace’s record in free agency has so far been shaky; he has struggled to find replacements for talented players no longer with the team such as receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-singletary-jersey , tight end Martellus Bennett and kicker Robbie Gould. Fox at least helped restore some of the professionalism that was missing under former GM Phil Emery and coach Marc Trestman. But Fox’s conservative approach and some questionable decisions during games were sore spots. The Bears were 3-15 against the NFC North under Fox and dropped all six division games this past season. That will be one of the many things Nagy will need to help solve. ”Up-and-coming, smart guy,” Chiefs assistant head coach Brad Childress said of Nagy. ”He’s played the quarterback position, so he gets it. He knows how to teach. He’s got a great demeanor about him. He’s got a creative mind. I think he’s got everything going for him.” — LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Two-time All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack and top receiver Allen Robinson look as if they’re just about ready to return after missing the Chicago Bears‘ past two games because of injuries. Both players practiced without limitations Thursday for the second consecutive day.The NFC North-leading Bears hope to have them back in the lineup against the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field on Sunday.“These are strange deals because, literally, as you’re going through it (you’re) trying to figure out where they’re at on a day-to-day basis,” coach Matt Nagy said Thursday. “Where are you at? Can you go 100 percent? Can you not? How do you feel? And we need to take that into consideration and discuss that, which leads up to game time and then how much, if so.”Robinson sent strong signals that he intends to play, saying he’s “100 percent” after a groin injury kept him from playing in victories over the struggling New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. He has 25 catches for 285 and two touchdowns in six games after signing a three-year contract with Chicago in March.Robinson missed just about all of last season with Jacksonville after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee early in the opener. He was brought along slowly in the preseason as he worked his way back while trying to learn a new system and develop a rapport with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.“I’m feeling great Womens Dick Butkus Jersey , and I’m definitely anxious to get back out there,” Robinson said. “It’s been a tough couple weeks, just having to watch the game from the sideline, so I’m excited.”Mack, who did not make himself available for comment, got off to a huge start with the Bears following a trade from Oakland just before the opener. He had five sacks and four forced fumbles through the first four games. But he suffered an ankle injury early in an overtime loss at Miami on Oct. 14 and was largely a nonfactor the following week when New England beat Chicago at Soldier Field.Mack had not missed a game since Oakland drafted him with the fifth overall pick in 2014, before sitting out the past two. And he still was adjusting to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s system even though he sure looked dominant before he got hurt.“He didn’t practice much the two weeks he’s missed … so he’s not where he needs to be or where we want him to be,” Fangio said. “But he’s certainly prepared enough to go out there and play if his ankle will let him.”
will come. While that’s not exactly how the sites of the NFL’s championship extravaganza are determined http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-michael-schofield-jersey , it sure doesn’t hurt to have a brand new, billion-dollar facility in your city.Including the 2004 game in Houston, the league will have staged nine Super Bowls in metropolitan areas with new stadiums in the past 15 years: Detroit, Phoenix, Dallas, Indianapolis, New York, San Francisco, Minneapolis and, now, Atlanta. Arizona and Houston actually have hosted twice, but obviously neither of those buildings was new the second time around. There’s nothing written on a game plan sheet guaranteeing such an award from the NFL, it’s more a nodding agreement it will happen. And it will once more in Los Angeles in 2022, and very likely in Las Vegas before the end of the next decade.“It really depends Womens Corey Liuget Jersey , but a world-class stadium is critical, and we are going through a run with Minnesota and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and other new buildings,” says Peter O’Reilly, the NFL’s senior vice president of events. “There are lots of factors that come into it in determining where and when we go and what is the right sequence. So that’s not necessarily a truism … though certainly there is a track record of a number of recent buildings that have been built that are incredible facilities.”Atlanta last hosted a Super Bowl in 2000, when it was hit with severe weather, including ice storms that nearly shut down the city. The NFL didn’t go back until this year, in part because the Georgia Dome no longer was a state-of-the-art venue, and in part because of memories of 2000.Since Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in 2017, Atlanta has been the site of several major sporting events, including the college football playoff. Atlanta United of MLS has set all sorts of attendance records in the building. Those successes matter in the Super Bowl race.“We do attend and we watch all those events that are coming into a venue,” says O’Reilly, who also oversees the staging of the draft that has become a traveling show and heads to Nashville this April and Las Vegas next year.“Part of the reason we have a policy in place that we don’t play a Super Bowl in the first year after a building opens is you understand and learn from the events and the games in there. One of the positives is a number of the key vendors who work on the Super Bowl work on other major events. Clearly, in this community it’s a really collaborative spirit.”Of course, hosting a Super Bowl is about a lot more than spirit. It’s about dollars Dan Feeney Jersey , millions of dollars.Economic impact studies tend to show the value of the NFL’s big show ranges from $200 million to $500 million for a city. Plus, more than 100 million viewers across the country are seeing that city being showcased. Minnesota might not have been a winter vacation destination to many people before it was spotlighted for last year’s game.Naturally, Minneapolis wouldn’t have gotten the Super Bowl without having built an ultramodern indoor stadium. The only outdoor game in a cold weather city was in 2014 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and that was a given once the Giants and Jets agreed to foot most of the bill for the facility. With a wink and a nod, Detroit was destined for a Super Bowl once Ford Field was ready and the Lions moved back downtown from the suburbs. Indianapolis, which put on a sensational Super Bowl week, never would have been considered without Lucas Oil Stadium being constructed.“There’s nothing formal,” explains Marc Ganis, president of Sportscorp, a Chicago-based consulting firm, and an adviser to several team owners. “It is an understanding that if you build a new stadium and have the facilities for a Super Bowl and the community gets behind it, you will get a Super Bowl. Maybe you will only get one, like Indianapolis — as great a job as Indianapolis did, it’s really on the edge of a community that can support a Super Bowl. They made up for it with the great community support.“It is not an issue of how well a franchise is run http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-watt-jersey , either. It’s an issue of the market, the hotel rooms and the stadium. So we know that Miami (2020), Tampa (2021), New Orleans (2024), Texas, Arizona (2023), LA and Las Vegas will get them.”The process for securing a Super Bowl has changed. No longer do cities bid against each other — Ganis notes that a so-called loser in the bidding could be embarrassed despite putting up a very strong presentation, and that a lengthy series of ballots doesn’t look good for anyone. Now, O’Reilly and the owners’ Super Bowl committee go to each club seeking an expression of interest in hosting the game. Many cities know they have no chance, perhaps because of weather concerns at an outdoor stadium — it’s unlikely any such venue in the Northeast except MetLife would be considered — or lack of stadium size or insufficient infrastructure or hotel space. The committee identifies a city that fits best for a particular year and asks it for specifics for hosting.“We end up with optimizing the sequences, avoid a scenario where multiple cities are spending significant time and resources on a bid and ultimately they’re not rewarded,” O’Reilly says.Suggestions that the game could wind up in London seem farfetched, and the NFL certainly would need a franchise there before it could happen. Besides, Ganis says there will never be a shortage of U.S. locales interested in hosting.“I focus on the tremendous amount of new money coming into the community Womens Travis Benjamin Jersey , and not just the week of the Super Bowl, but all the planning and the attention that takes place, and the money spent from outside (the venue) on that. Those things are almost impossible to put a price tag on, as is the visibility over a number of years focused on those two weeks in your city. It is almost always very positive.” COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Keenan Allen is having another productive season for the Los Angeles Chargers with the exception of one area — touchdowns. The wide receiver has the second-most receptions (41) and yards (506) through seven games in his six-year career, but he has only one touchdown.Going into Sunday’s game at Seattle, it is the second straight year that Allen has mostly been kept out of the end zone the first half of the season. He also had only one TD in the Chargers’ first nine games last season.“They will come. I just have to keep doing my job and make sure I am ready when the play comes,” Allen said.Allen hasn’t had a touchdown since the opener against Kansas City. Last season he also had a TD in the opener and then went eight straight games before he scored another.Allen did show some frustration over his lack of touchdowns in the Chargers’ last game against Tennessee on Oct. 21. Allen appeared to be wide open on a third-down play at the Titans 10, but Rivers threw an incomplete pass to Mike Williams, who was covered. Allen kicked one of the end zone pylons after the play and had a brief exchange with Rivers on the sideline.Rivers said this might be the most playmakers he has had during his 15-year career and had no problems with Allen showing his frustration.“I think having that competitiveness and that desire to want it and get it and throw it our way as a quarterback, you want them to all feel that, and we all understand and manage from an emotion standpoint,” Rivers said.Despite having more receiving options, Rivers said he hasn’t seen teams cover Allen differently and that he is still drawing double teams. The double teams have helped Tyrell Williams and Mike Williams make plays downfield. Tyrell Williams has seven receptions for 236 yards and three touchdowns in his past two games.“He’s obviously a huge part of what we’re doing Keenan Allen Jersey , the third down plays against Tennessee were huge and he’s going to be a big factor and help those other guys have some favorable matchups,” Rivers said.Allen is hoping that his hot stretch comes in November again. Last season he had three straight games where he had 10 or more catches as he had 33 receptions for 436 yards and four touchdowns.“It will come. I just have to keep doing my job and make sure to be ready,” Allen said. “At the end of the day it is all about success.”Allen will be going up against a Seattle defense that is fourth in the league with 10 interceptions. The Chargers (5-2) have won four straight games and have split the two games at CenturyLink Field since it opened in 2002.The Seahawks (4-3) have won four of their past five, but a benefit for the Chargers is that Seattle’s defensive scheme is similar to their own. That is because Los Angeles defensive coordinator Gus Bradley had the same position in Seattle from 2009 to 2012.“Our players see it every single day, but it’s still a personnel game, matchup game. They put their player in a position to make plays just like we do and we just have to execute,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said.Notes: Running back Melvin Gordon, who missed the Tennessee game because of a hamstring injury, was working with his position group during individual drills, but Lynn was not ready to say Gordon was full-go for Sunday. … Lynn said the reason why they kept Caleb Sturgis as kicker was because of Sturgis’ ability the past three seasons to make clutch kicks. Sturgis, who has missed the past two games because of a quadriceps injury, has missed four extra points this season.
JACKSONVILLE http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-andrew-norwell-jersey , Fla. (AP) — It wasn’t too long ago that veteran receiver Donte Moncrief was buried on Jacksonville’s depth chart.Moncrief had fallen behind Marqise Lee, Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook and even rookie DJ Chark after missing a week of practice because of a sore knee. Now, four weeks later and following a devastating injury to Lee , Moncrief might be the team’s go-to guy heading into the season opener at the New York Giants. He certainly is the unwitting leader of that position group and will be counted on to fill a void created when Lee hurt his left knee in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve.“The young guys, they look at me as an older guy,” Moncrief said. “I just told them, ‘Anybody can be great.’ It just takes the time and passion to go out there and want to be great. Go out there and make plays every day, not just in a game, also in practice Womens Abry Jones Jersey , so you can build the trust when it comes down to game time.”The Jaguars trusted Moncrief enough to give him a one-year, $9.6 million contract in free agency. The deal was fully guaranteed, a move general manager Dave Caldwell felt he had to do with so much uncertainty at receiver.Jacksonville figured Allen Robinson was gone, was unsure Lee would re-sign, and planned to part with Allen Hurns. The team also had no idea it would get Chark in the second round of the draft. So the Jags targeted Moncrief, hoping his big-play ability would help spread out defenses designed to slow down Jacksonville’s run-first approach .The 6-foot-2 Moncrief caught 152 passes for 1,875 yards and 18 touchdowns in four years with Indianapolis. He missed 11 games the last two seasons because of shoulder and toe injuries. He also endured quarterback chaos, with Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett, Matt Hasselbeck Lerentee McCray Jersey , Scott Tolzien and Josh Freeman throwing him passes.“Just having a chip on my shoulder to go out and show what I actually can do and have a healthy year and come out here and compete and show the league what I’ve got,” Moncrief said. “I know what I’m capable of and I’m going to hold myself to it.”Jacksonville is counting on it now, especially without Lee.Still, the team believes Cole, Westbrook and Chark have star potential.Cole was an undrafted rookie from tiny Kentucky Wesleyan in 2017, a guy admittedly awe-struck by playing in packed NFL stadiums. He was barely noticeable on the field early, catching eight passes for 111 yards in the first seven games. He finished with 42 receptions for 748 yards and three touchdowns, plus a few huge plays in the postseason .Westbrook, a fourth-round draft pick from Oklahoma in 2017, missed the first nine games of his rookie year because of a sports hernia Corey Grant Jersey , caught 27 passes for 339 yards and a TD in seven games.Cole and Westbrook were in the starting lineup late last season, and it wasn’t an ideal situation.“There were times last year where you kind of got that look in the huddle where it is like, ‘Hey, I have no idea what you were talking about,'” quarterback Blake Bortles said. “Looking at them this year, they are running out of the huddle before I can finish saying the play because they know what they have.”The Jags expected those guys to make strides in their second seasons, but they didn’t want to have to rely on it.Moncrief, meanwhile, welcomes the pressure of having to perform, especially on a one-year contract that essentially has him prepping for free agency again.“Everybody in that room can play Womens Calais Campbell Jersey ,” Moncrief said. “It’s just about stepping up when you’re ready to go. … I just tell them you’ve been doing this since you were little. It’s just football. Make plays, catch the ball, go block, and let everything else fall in place.“We’ve got to be special in that room.” There have been some surprising developments in the opening hours of the NFL’s pre-free agency legal tampering window, but some expected moves are also going down. One that everyone saw coming was quarterback Nick Foles joining the Jaguars and it is coming to pass. Word was that the two sides could have a deal done on Monday and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that they have come to an agreement. It is reportedly going to be a four-year deal with a base value of $88 million when things can become official on Wednesday afternoon. The deal can reportedly be worth as much as $102 million with Adam Schefter of ESPN reporting that there is $50.125 million in guaranteed money. The move reunites Foles with John DeFilippo, who was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach when Foles was Super Bowl LII MVP and is heading into his first year as the offensive coordinator in Jacksonville. That link and the scant number of open starting quarterback jobs around the league made it easy to predict that Foles would wind up in Jacksonville.

http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-pouncey-jersey , Mo. (AP) — Philip Rivers and the Chargers finally beat the Kansas City Chiefs. All it took was feverish fourth-quarter comeback, a questionable pass-interference call, a tense video review of the final touchdown and the gutsy decision to try a 2-point conversion. The result: Chargers 29, Chiefs 28.Justin Jackson’s touchdown run with a couple minutes left gave the Chargers a chance. They quickly got the ball back from Patrick Mahomes and the NFL’s highest-scoring offense, and Rivers led a tense final drive that included a fourth-down dart to Travis Benjamin and that crucial penalty on Kendall Fuller in the back of the end zone. The flag gave the Chargers the ball at the 1, and Rivers found Mike Williams along the sideline on the very next play. And when his TD catch with 8 seconds left was confirmed, coach Anthony Lynn sent his offense back onto the field to end five years’ worth of frustration.Williams found himself alone in the end zone to secure the 2-point conversion. Not only did the Chargers (11-3) clinch a playoff berth, they forged a first-place tie with the Chiefs (11-3) in the AFC West while ending a nine-game losing streak to their longtime division rivals.Rivers threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns, though he also tossed a pair of interceptions, and Williams had seven catches for 76 yards and two scores while adding another on the ground.Jackson ran for 58 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Melvin Gordon.Mahomes was held to just 243 yards and two touchdowns for Kansas City, and his inability to pick up a first down in the closing minutes proved costly. The Chiefs forced the Chargers to burn two timeouts on their last drive Womens Isaac Rochell Jersey , but Mahomes was sacked by Isaac Rochell and Kansas City had to punt. The Chiefs never got the ball back on offense.Hyped by the return of star safety Eric Berry, it looked for a while as if the Chiefs would simply resume their vexation of Rivers at Arrowhead Stadium. Steven Nelson leaped to snag a jump ball for an interception on the second play of the game, and Rivers tossed another just before halftime.Mahomes and Co. took advantage of their early momentum.Kansas City breezed downfield after Nelson’s interception, and the young MVP candidate threw a dart to Demarcus Robinson — while in the grasp of Chargers safety Adrian Phillips — for a 7-0 lead. Then after a punt, Darrel Williams took a screen pass for his first career touchdown. The Chargers finally reached the end zone in the second quarter, when Mike Williams caught a short TD pass. But it came moments after wide receiver Keenan Allen hurt his hip while trying to make a leaping grab in the corner of the end zone — he briefly returned before sitting out the rest of the game.Mike Williams continued to pick up the slack the rest of the game. After the Chiefs pushed their lead to 21-7 on Damien Williams‘ touchdown run, the Chargers’ big, rangy wide receiver answered with a 19-yard end-around for a score. And when then Chiefs went on another methodical scoring drive to take a 28-14 lead with just over 8 minutes left in the game, Williams helped the Chargers head the other way for another answering touchdown to stay in the game.TONY G’S AWARDThe Chiefs added TE Tony Gonzalez to their Hall of Fame at halftime. The six-time All-Pro played his first 12 seasons with the Chiefs before finishing his career in Atlanta. His name was unveiled next to that of WR Carlos Carson on the ring of honor inside Arrowhead Stadium.INACTIVE STARSGordon (knee) tried to warmup before telling coach Anthony Lynn that he couldn’t play, joining Ekeler (concussion) on their inactive list. RB Spencer Ware (hamstring), WR Sammy Watkins (foot) and OL Cam Erving were the starters out for Kansas City.INJURIESChargers: Allen received treatment on the sideline after nearly making his spectacular TD catch Michael Badgley Jersey , and he returned briefly before slowly walking off. CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Taysom Hill has been the quintessential all-purpose player the past two seasons. On Sunday, he showed again what makes him such a valuable weapon for the New Orleans Saints.Hill had 191 yards of offense and directed three second-half scoring drives to help the Saints rally for a 19-17 preseason victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. In a game where Philip Rivers and Drew Brees were sideline observers, Hill supplied most of the quarterback highlights. He was 11 of 15 for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran for 55 yards.Article continues below ...With New Orleans trailing 17-3 at halftime, Hill felt the pressure was on him to produce.“I felt like we needed some energy. And the thing I reiterated in the huddle was we’re going to have a chance to win this football game,” Hill said. “I know it’s a preseason game, but this is what it’s all about, and if we came here to not win then we’re wrong. So that was the objective.”Hill threw a 27-yard TD pass to Austin Carr with 3:10 remaining in the third quarter to bring the Saints (1-1) to 17-10.Hill then directed an 11-play, 69-yard drive midway through the fourth quarter that culminated in a 1-yard TD pass to Devine Ozigbo. The Saints went for 2, but Hill was sacked by Anthony Lanier II.Following a Chargers punt, Hill drove the Saints into field goal range Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , where Will Lutz made a 28-yarder with 1:08 remaining.“For three quarters I thought it was pretty complementary football. Then Taysom Hill took it over and they completely outplayed us,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said.Hill has lined up at receiver, running back and tight end for the Saints since they signed him in 2017, but coach Sean Payton has been impressed with how Hill has looked at his natural position during training camp.“I think he’s had a good camp and has progressed,” Payton said. “Some of the things he did were scrambles, but he’s pretty good when he’s running.”Troymaine Pope returned a punt 81 yards and Cardale Jones was 10 of 14 for 111 yards and a touchdown for the Chargers (0-2).The Chargers led 10-3 late in the second quarter when Pope ran back Thomas Morestead’s punt with three seconds remaining. Pope — a second-year running back — made three New Orleans defenders miss within the first 15 yards before finding an opening up the left sideline and outrunning Dwayne Washington to the end zone.“I wanted to make sure I secured the catch,” Pope said. “I made the first man miss and it was straight shot from there because it was blocked so well.”Patton, who did not play in the Aug. 8 preseason opener at Arizona due to injury, gave the Chargers a 7-3 lead with 5:32 remaining when he hauled in a 26-yard pass from Cardale Jones to complete a 10–play, 98-yard drive.FOR STARTERSTyrod Taylor and Bridgewater were the starting quarterbacks but were not effective.Taylor directed the first four Chargers drives and was 7 of 10 for 57 yards and an interception. Los Angeles turned it over on downs on its first series where they had to attempts to get a yard and could not convert.Bridgewater played the entire first half — going 5 for 12 for 40 yards — despite being ill since Friday. The sixth-year quarterback did direct a first-quarter scoring drive that ended in a Lutz 33-yard field goal after A.J. Klein picked off Taylor and returned it 20 yards to the Chargers’ 18.“Man, it was a poor game http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-melvin-gordon-jersey ,” Bridgewater said. “Today I just didn’t give those guys the energy they deserve.”CHARGERS BACKFIELDAustin Ekeler and Justin Jackson, who have been getting most of the snaps at running back while Melvin Gordon holds out, struggled.Ekeler was held to nine yards on three carries while Jackson had eight rushes for 33 yards. Both backs didn’t have many clean rushing lanes as the Saints’ defensive line had the advantage over the Chargers’ offensive line.SELF-INFLICTED ERRORSNew Orleans moved the ball well at times but had two critical turnovers in the red zone. Washington had a ball bounce off his hands and into the arms of safety Jaylen Watkins at the Chargers’ 2-yard line for an interception during the second quarter. Los Angeles would take advantage and drive for a touchdown.During the fourth quarter, linebacker Denzel Perryman forced Ozigbo to fumble and it was recovered by Adarius Pickett at the LA 9.“Make no mistake about it there are some things that just eat at you a little bit, (things) we can’t do as a team and expect to win against good teams,” Payton said. “Those are the things we have got to get correct.”STRONG DEBUTChargers first-round pick Jerry Tillery played in his first game and recorded a sack during the second quarter. The defensive tackle, the 28th overall selection in April’s draft, got past two offensive linemen to bring down Bridgewater.“It felt good to get out there again. My last game (for Notre Dame) was against Clemson in December, so it has been awhile. I was able to get back to it pretty well,” Tillery said.UP NEXTSaints: Visit the New York Jets next Saturday as Brees is likely to get his only snaps of the preseason.Chargers: Host Seattle next Saturday.
and Dallas Cowboys (3-3) are set to play at AT&T Stadium on Sunday Night Football. In order to preview this Week 7 matchup for first place in the NFC East Womens Rodney McLeod Jersey , I reached out to our mortal enemies over at Blogging The Boys. The dastardly Dave Halprin (just kidding, Dave is a nice guy) kindly took the time to answer my questions about the upcoming game. Let’s take a look at his answers! Also, don’t forget to check out my side of the Q&A exchange over at BTB.1 - The Cowboys were good enough to start 3-0 and bad enough to drop to 3-3. What’s the good and bad with this team? The good is, at times, the offense has looked spectacular. Even in the games they lost, a couple of the second-half comebacks showed what the team is capable of on offense when it’s clicking. There have been times, especially early on, when the Cowboys were having no problem producing chunk plays and driving the field for touchdowns. The play-calling was varied and not so tied to running the ball as much as the Cowboys have in past years. The connection between Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup looked solid, and there wasn’t an over-reliance on Ezekiel Elliott to be the engine. So at times, the offense was producing just like you’d want it to if you are a Cowboys fan. The defense wasn’t playing spectacularly, but they were keeping the scoring down and allowing the Cowboys to weather some slow starts to games. The bad is none of this is consistent. Even within games, Dallas can look terrible in the first half, then storm back in the second but sometimes run out of time. Making matters worse is that it’s not just one thing. The play-calling, which seemed so inventive and daring at the start of the season, has appeared to become more conservative and run-oriented now, especially the tendency to run on first down. The receivers have had trouble with drops, and Prescott has had some issues with ball placement. Critical penalties have wiped out big plays and the offensive line is not playing nearly as well as it should. Injuries have played their part, but all NFL teams have injuries so that isn’t a good excuse. On defense, the run defense has cratered at times and the defensive line and the linebackers are playing below average football. The Cowboys are all over the place right now, and many of their problems on offense are self-induced, while the defense has lost the ability to keep gap integrity and they are not rushing the passer very well. 2 - Seems like the Cowboys will be without some key players in this game. Who’s expected to be in/out and what’s the impact? This is a tough call right now. Amari Cooper tried to go in the last game but only lasted a few plays. He didn’t practice on Wednesday and there is a real possibility he won’t go. As you can imagine, that’s a huge impact because he’s been on fire this year. Randall Cobb missed last week with a back issue but I’m guessing, with nothing to really back it up, that he will go on Sunday. They say he was close to playing last week. Tyron Smith worked out before last week’s game to see if he could go but was unable to Alshon Jeffery Jersey , I think he might be able to go this week. La’el Collins I’m less sure of, he might need to sit out through the bye week. Cornerbacks Byron Jones and Anthony Brown are both dealing with hamstrings picked up in the last game. Trying to pick up clues from Jason Garrett’s press conferences, it sounds like Anthony Brown’s injury is more serious and he probably won’t play.If Cooper, Tyron Smith and La’el Collins can’t go, that’s big time for Dallas. The Jets were able to get a solid pass rush against our backup tackles and our run game was not as effective without the two starting tackles. Cooper is the main man in the attack, he is the veteran route-runner who gets open. He needs to stop dropping occasional passes but he is a beast to cover. If Byron Jones is unable to play, the pass defense suffers because he’s the best cover guy back there. The Cowboys can absorb one corner missing because Jourdan Lewis is a capable backup, some think he should be starting, but missing two corners will probably open things up in the passing game for the Eagles. 3 - What’s the confidence level in Jason Garrett? Is there concern that Garrett could perform well enough to get another new contract but not well enough to actually get the Cowboys over the hump? I don’t think the scenario of “performing well enough to get a contract but not getting the team over the hump” exists anymore. This feels very much like a do-or-die season for Garrett. If he is unable to get the Cowboys deep into the playoffs, like NFC Championship Game/Super Bowl, they will probably go in a different direction. Jerry Jones is letting Garrett work on the last year of his deal without an extension for a reason, and that reason is produce big or move on. At this point, I don’t think the confidence level from the fanbase is very high in Garrett. When the team was 3-0, there was the ability to picture Garrett really turning the corner and doing big things this season. With the three-game losing streak, there is obviously a lot more pessimism. Personally, I think he needs to go unless he does produce a huge year. After so long as a coach of a team, if it doesn’t happen then the team usually needs a new face and a new routine to shake things up. 4 - Are the Cowboys making the right decision to wait to pay Dak Prescott? What do you think his new contract will look like in terms of annual value? And, as with Garrett, is there concern Dak could perform well enough to get a new contract but not well enough to actually get the Cowboys over the hump?I think the Cowboys are sold on Prescott as their franchise quarterback and they are going to pay him accordingly. I don’t think it’s Dallas that is making the decision to wait to pay Dak, I really think it’s Dak’s camp that is holding out to see just how much they can extract from the team. In some ways, they are betting on Dak having a great year and forcing the Cowboys to pay up before free agency/franchise tags come into play in the offseason. That seemed like a very good bet at the start of the year as Prescott was killing it early, and while he’s not really the cause of their losing streak, his play has come back to earth somewhat. In the end, though http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-lane-johnson-jersey , I think the Cowboys are going to pay Dak top dollar unless he absolutely tanks the rest of the year; they are convinced he’s their guy. I’m sure his contract will be in the $35 million+ range annual value. Of course, the details of how it is structured, the guaranteed money etc. is open for debate, but I think it’s clear they going to pay him at the top of the QB value chart. 5 - If you were building a game plan for the Cowboys, how would you attack them on both offense and defense. If Tyron Smith and La’el Collins don’t play, then I would continually attack their replacements with a variety of stunts, blitzes, disguised pass rushers, basically anything that could unsettle their replacements. Communication is always an issue with new lineman and picking up stunts or sliding the protection one way or the other can get lost along the way. While the Jets only got one sack, they were getting constant pressure on Prescott forcing him into quick or awkward throws. The Eagles already stifle the run, so going after those guys in the pass rush makes sense. If Smith and Collins can play, you still want to get pressure on Prescott so don’t let the Cowboys rely on their run game. If that is working they can play-action your linebackers and secondary to death, but if you can shut the run down without committing guys to the box and not taking false steps forward by the linebackers, you can really slow down what the Cowboys are trying to accomplish. Against the Cowboys defense, try to establish the run. I know in today’s NFL you’re analytically better off relying more on the passing game, but teams have had success with running on the Cowboys. A lot of that success comes on north-south runs and using counters or traps to isolate a portion of the Cowboys interior and trying to seal off the linebackers. You want to attack the Cowboys interior instead of trying to go wide. If you can get that working, the Cowboys defense seems to wilt. Additionally, the Cowboys pass rush is not very effective right now, they can get around the edges but quarterbacks have had success stepping up in the pocket and throwing. So hit them up the gut on runs, then have your quarterback stay calm, don’t bail out early and step up in the pocket to avoid trouble. 6 - Who wins this game and why? Score prediction? And what are your expectations for the rest of this Cowboys season?I guess I’m not ready to punt on the Cowboys season just yet, so I’m going to pick them to barely win. They are at home so that will help, and I feel like the have the capability of playing quality football if they can just get out of their own way. Everybody on this side of things is hoping that the embarrassing Jets loss is some kind of wake up call, not only for the players but for the coaches. They need to open their offense back up and let the passing game attack the Eagles vulnerable secondary. If they try to run the ball regularly against that defense Womens Nelson Agholor Jersey , they’ll lose. Let’s say Cowboys 27 - Eagles 24. As for my season expectations, I don’t really have any because it all really depends on Sunday night. Win that and there is hope. Lose it and things look pretty dark. Kinda.Well, football did happen last night and the Eagles were most certainly on the field. In the team’s first preseason game, very few locked-in starters saw playing time. The points of intrigue, as it should be in any preseason game, were the team’s rookies looking to make an impression. Most notably, Andre Dillard seemed to belong. While the team sat all five of their starting offensive linemen, Philadelphia’s first round pick got a lot of reps to show his stuff against Tennessee’s second team defense. Dillard showed off the movement and length that enticed the team to draft him. If Thursday is any indication of his development, the team is in good hands with Dillard as the long-term replacement for Jason Peters. The team’s 2019 second round picks, Miles Sanders and JJ Arcega-Whiteside, were relatively quiet last night. Sanders, as with the rest of the run game, never really got started and had a measly three yards on three carries. Arcega-Whiteside caught two passes on three targets, which certainly isn’t bad, but he’ll have to wait a bit longer before showing off his big play ability.Among Eagles draft picks, it was Shareef Miller who stood out to me the most last night. After some injuries among the defensive linemen, we got a healthy dose of the Philly native. Miller looked quick off the snap and played with a high motor, logging a sack midway through the game. Miller has a good shot at making the team and more performances like this will keep him on the roster.Unfortunately, the Eagles’ last pick in 2019 had the most notable rookie performance for all the wrong reasons. Clayton Thorson probably saw the field more than expected last night after Nate Sudfeld went down with a wrist injury. Thorson used this opportunity to look totally lost every snap he took. Thorson completed just two passes on nine attempts for a measly seven yards and threw a BRUTAL pick. He might as well have been playing a different sport altogether. Thorson, somehow, has a path to an opening day roster spot if Sudfeld’s injury keeps him out for two long. The fifth-round pick was chosen for developmental purposes so it’s no surprise this is where he’s at right now. However he’ll need to show a lot more next week or the Eagles should be looking around for another backup quarterback.
at Wednesday’s press conference when he was asked about the latest development in this week’s saga concerning cornerback Jalen Ramsey‘s health. After calling out sick on Monday Barry Church Jersey , Ramsey did not practice on Wednesday with the team saying that a back injury was to blame for his absence. There’s also been word of hamstring issues, which may be why Marrone had a chuckle or two before saying that he didn’t know when Ramsey’s back started bothering him.According to multiple reporters http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-ereck-flowers-jersey , the Jaguars have reached out to clarify the timeline. The team says that Ramsey reported back soreness during the fourth quarter of last Thursday’s win over the Titans. Ramsey did not miss any snaps during the game.Absent a transcript, verbatim or otherwise Womens Brad Nortman Jersey , it is hard to know who on the Jaguars knew what about Ramsey’s condition in recent days. Given his ongoing desire to be traded and word that Ramsey was not planning on practicing this week, skepticism about the reason for his absence from the field figures to linger.Week 4 Pro Football Focus insights: Running backs stand out vs. Buccaneers Pro Football Focus is charting everything when it comes to the NFL in 2018 and that includes the preseason — where backups again excelled against their competition. So who was the cream of the crop in the preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? by defeating the Houston Astros in Game Seven on Wednesday night and there weren’t many people predicting that’s how the baseball season would wind up early in the season.Washington was 19-31 after their first 50 games Womens Sherrick McManis Jersey , but went 74-38 the rest of the way to earn a playoff spot and then went through three National League teams to make it to the World Series. Bears head coach Matt Nagy hopes the turnaround tale is one his team will take to heart.Nagy said he showed his 3-4 team a presentation about the Nationals on Thursday that focused on not letting a slow start ensure a bad finish to a season.“How do you not show that to your guys and let them pull from that?” Nagy said, via J.J. Stankevitz of NBCSportsChicago.com.The Bears have nine games left to show that they are better than they’ve been over the first seven games. The first comes in Philadelphia this Sunday and another loss will make it harder to see their season having the same happy ending that the Nationals got this week. LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)The Bears went back to building their offense on the second day of the draft.Chicago took Iowa center James Daniels and Memphis receiver Anthony Miller on Friday night, giving prized quarterback Mitchell Trubisky more protection and another target. The Bears took Daniels with the 39th overall pick. They then traded back into the second round with New England to take Miller at No. 51. In exchange, the Bears sent the Patriots a fourth-round pick this year (105) and a second-rounder in 2019.The Bears have spent the offseason loading up the offense to help Trubisky develop into the franchise quarterback they believe he can become, and they were back at it after drafting Georgia standout linebacker Roquan Smith with the No. 8 pick.General manager Ryan Pace said the Bears plan to have Daniels compete at left guard with Eric Kush and ”cross train” at center. That means Cody Whitehair will be snapping the ball to Trubisky after bouncing between center and guard over two seasons.”That’s how we want to go right now,” Pace said. ”Cody was a tackle in college and we felt he had the position versatility to play multiple spots. No different than James Daniel. No different than Eric Kush. Position versatility in our offensive line is important. They all have that.”The 6-foot-3, 306-pound Daniels – who turns 21 in September – played three seasons at Iowa and was honorable-mention Charles Leno Jersey , all-Big Ten last year. He is looking forward to playing with Trubisky after getting shredded by him in an Ohio regional playoff game in high school. Trubisky threw for five touchdowns and ran for one to lead Mentor over Warren G. Harding in 2012.”I’m real excited,” Daniels said. ”In 2012, if you would have asked six years ago that I’d be blocking for him, I would say you’re lying. That’s the craziest thing I ever heard. But it means a lot to me.”The Bears can see Miller contributing in the slot and on the outside.”He’s got good route savvy, good route quickness,” Pace said. ”He just knows how to set things up. really strong hands – he’s got 10-inch hands so he can really pluck the ball.”Miller had no FBS offers coming out of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis and opted to walk on at his hometown school. He went on to catch 238 passes for 3,590 yards and 37 touchdowns in three seasons and was a first-team, All-American as a senior last year. A broken bone in his right foot caused him to miss the Senior Bowl. He said it’s completely healed.”I’m going to prove everybody who passed me up wrong http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-joel-iyiegbuniwe-jersey ,” Miller said. ”The Bears are going to get all I got. They’re going to get the Memphis grind. I don’t think they’ve seen that yet. But I’m going to introduce them to it.”Memphis grind?”This area, there’s not a lot going on around here,” Miller said. ”People have got to work for everything they’ve got. Nobody is put over anybody as far as status. In order to get respect, you’ve got to work for it. You’ve got to grind for it. You’ve got to put in time. I believe I get a lot of respect around here because I didn’t ask for any handouts. I just came to work every day and put it in. It’s all paying off for me.”The Bears did not have a third-round pick late Friday. They have one each in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh on Saturday. The Bears finished last in the NFC North for the fourth straight year and missed the playoffs for the 10th time in 11 seasons since the 2006 team’s Super Bowl run. They haven’t posted a winning record since 2012, Lovie Smith’s final year. But the Monsters of the Midway made some big moves designed to get the most out of their prized quarterback and lift a struggling franchise. They fired John Fox and replaced him with the offensive-minded Matt Nagy, a protege of Andy Reid. They also gave Trubisky some new targets Womens Nick Kwiatkoski Jersey , including a new No. 1 receiver in Allen Robinson. In the draft, there was a different feel through the first two rounds this year. Pace landed more established, NFL-ready players this time. That was a bit of a change from 2016 and 2017, when he took linebacker Leonard Floyd and Trubisky in the first round.”I would say that it’s just the way our board fell,” Pace said. ”Sometimes it’s going to feel the other way. these are guys that fell that way this year.”—

For the Chargers, it is no different as there is plenty of speculation as to what the team will do when they are on the clock tomorrow night. Josh Rosen: Smoke or fire? There has been a plethora of whispers the last several weeks about the Chargers as a possible team that would be willing to execute a trade for Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Josh Rosen. On Monday, Adam Schefter reported that the Giants, Chargers and Dolphins are the three “primary” teams in play for the former number one pick. The Cardinals have been holding out for a first round pick in exchange for Rosen, but are unlikely to get that value in return. But rumors began to circulate around the Chargers being interested in parting with their second round pick (60th overall) to acquire Rosen as a developmental QB to mold behind Philip Rivers.Earlier this week, General Manager Tom Telesco spoke with the Media and had this to say regarding the possibility of Los Angeles making a trade for a potential Rivers’ successor During the free agency period, the Chargers signed Tyrod Taylor to a two-year $11 million deal, giving the team a capable veteran backup. Taylor’s contract is another reason to believe that the Chargers wouldn’t be a serious candidate for Rosen as the team would be taking on an additional cap hit at the QB position on top of giving up draft capital. Time will tell on If the smoke surrounding these rumors has any fire behind it. Moving down?Since he became the GM of the Chargers in 2013, Telesco has had a reputation of keeping the Chargers draft strategy close to the chest. This year, Los Angeles owns the 28th overall selection, which brings a number of different possibilities along with it. One of those options could be to trade out their first round spot and move down to acquire more picks. On Monday, Telesco addressed the possibilities of trading down. The Chargers have not selected this late in the draft since 2007. Depending on how the board falls to them, Los Angeles could be open for business to negotiate with teams looking to get back into the tail end first round. What are the experts saying?Mock drafts have peaked our interest for the last several months. Now with only one day remaining until Draft Day, here are the latest predictions from analysts on what the Chargers will do with their first round selection:CBSSports.com’s Ryan Wilson: DT Dexter Lawrence-Clemson“Don’t be fooled by his 6-foot-4, 342-pound frame” Wilson says.“Dexter Lawrence is an incredible athlete and while first appearance might suggest otherwise http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-lance-alworth-jersey , he’s a three-down player. For some perspective on just how versatile he is, during the 2018 season Lawrence ranked fourth in Pro Football Focus’ pass-rush productivity metric and was sixth in run-stop percentage. There’s also this: In Los Angeles, he’ll be bookended by Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. Good luck stopping that.”ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.: DT Jeffery Simmons- Mississippi State“I thought the Chargers might target a defensive tackle with the 17th pick last year, but Vita Vea and Daron Payne were both off the board. They ended up with Derwin James, one of the best picks of the entire draft, but still have a need along the interior of their defense. Simmons might not be picked in Round 1. He tore his ACL in February and could redshirt this season. But he’s a top-15 talent, and he’s going to be on my Big Board. And he could be a steal here.”The Draft Network’s Benjamin Solak: OT Dalton Risner-Kansas State“I think Risner is worth a look at tackle where his length and technique both shine” Solak says. “Players with slower feet and less explosiveness than Risner have survived out there, though there is some concern with Risner’s balance when faced with shifty rushers. Either way, love his energy and tone-setting aggression.”NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah: CB Rock Ya-Sin -Temple“There are other needs here -- safety and defensive tackle among them -- but it was apparent that the Bolts need to add some talent on the outside based on their performance against the Patriots in the Divisional Round of last season’s playoffs.”Pro Football Focus’ Steve Palazzolo: S Nasir Adderley-Delaware“The Chargers are strong all-around defensively, but Adderley adds a true free safety to pair with strong safety Derwin James. Adderley has incredible range and ball skills on the back end, evidenced by his 89.9 coverage grade, six pass breakups and five interceptions last season. Adderley and James are perfect for their respective roles and one of the best young safety duos in the game.”USA Today’s DraftWire’s Luke Easterling: CB Byron Murphy-Washington“There are bigger needs elsewhere on the roster, but the Bolts need to pounce on the value here. Murphy is the most complete corner in this year’s class, despite concerns about his lack of size or speed.”The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema: DT Jerry Tillery-Notre Dame“The Chargers need some new blood on that interior defensive line” Sikkema says.“They have Bosa and Ingram on the edges, but they’re not getting enough pass rush from their inside guys, at least if you ask me. Tillery’s stock is rising, but there is still a chance he could be available here. If the Chargers can get their hands on him, he’d become an instant starter. He would give Los Angeles a 3-tech pass rush threat next to Brandon Mebane.” When the clock finally struck zero, and the Chargers stood stunned in disbelief at the outcome of last night’s 23-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans, there was one player I hoped would finally break out of his normal demeanor and have some thoughts on the whole debacle. In the locker room, defensive end Joey Bosa had a few more words than normal for the media. Here is what he had to say to ESPN’s Eric Williams:Now, I’m just as deflated as any other Chargers fans in the country Dan Fouts Jersey , but these words helped some of the emotional trauma melt away that night.Usually, players don’t like to make any grandiose statements that may offend or infringe on someone’s respect for them or anyone else. You don’t hear many statements like the one from Bosa because a player or two might take it as him calling them out. It could be seen as a lack of trust or faith in your teammates. But this is not the time for petty feelings such as that. This is a time for gut-check. It’s time for numerous players to take a hard look in the mirror and ask themselves what they could be doing better, or what are they possibly doing wrong. No player is completely innocent at this point, aside from those who haven’t stepped on the field yet. It seems like everyone has made at least one crucial mistake that’s led them to a 2-5 record. Everyone has had their share of lapses in judgement. But at some point, the statements made by Anthony Lynn and his staff following these tough losses will have to ring true before everyone starts taking them as smoke blown up our hind ends. Here was Lynn’s latest:When I heard him say these words in his post-game press conference, I halfway thought he was feeding us a line from the classic gridiron flick “Any Given Sunday”. It just sounded way too familiar. In the end, words are just words. Anyone can make a string of words sound meaningful and impactful with the right cadence and inflection. Actions are what we as a fan base are looking for: Purposeful actions that are visibly scratching and clawing the team in the right direction. But time, as it always does, will tell. We will not know what this team is made of until they’ve played their last snap of the season. Until then, find some hope. Find some silver lining that can keep your optimism afloat for just one more week, and then find it again, and again, and again.SurgeDE Joey BosaI honestly just want to give Bosa a gigantic bear hug and thank him for laying it all out on the field each and every game. If there is one player that visibly exudes effort on every Sunday, it is that man.Bosa is currently second on the team in total tackles with 35, only behind Thomas Davis who sits with 54. His current pace puts him on track for 80 tackles, which is a little eye-popping for a defensive end.The thing is, Bosa has taken his run-stopping abilities to new heights this season. Even in games where he doesn’t record a sack, he is consistently one of the highest-graded ends in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.Last night he finished with six total tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a pair of sacks, and three QB hits. He is now up to five sacks on the season and on pace for 11-12 on the season.RB Austin EkelerAt this rate, how many more times can a guy prove that he is a top-3 offensive weapon on this team and still only get utilized when the team is trying to throw themselves out of a self-inflicted hole?Ekeler Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , as a “back-up” running back currently leads the team in catches and receiving touchdowns, while also being second on the team in receiving yards. What made Gordon look so great last year is that when he wasn’t finding success on the ground, he usually was able to make-up for it through the air. That’s essentially what Ekeler is doing this year.In fact, he was taking things to a different level last night as Lynn was utilizing Ekeler as a wide receiver to get the most out of his dual-threat back, and it WORKED.The former UDFA finished with team-highs in catches and receiving yards, taking seven for 118 yards and a touchdown. He actually could have had a pair of scores were the replay officials slightly more blind than usual and didn’t wind-up reversing the touchdown on the field to him being down just before the goal-line.Rivers touchdown strike to Ekeler up the right sideline was a thing of beauty and it wasn’t even the first time Ekeler has made that exact play this season.Lynn NEEDS to stop catering to Melvin Gordon and start giving more of his focus on the players that have made an impact on this team early and often this year.LB Uchenna NwosuNwosu has done a fine job filling in for Melvin Ingram at the LEO position over the last three games. He finished with six total tackles in Sunday’s game to go along with a tackle-for-loss, a pass defensed, and a QB hit. He’s been getting after opposing quarterbacks, consistently finding pressure off the edge and causing some misfires along the way.He is best suited for LEO duties and staying near the line of scrimmage. It would be a disservice to his capabilities if he were to see any time at off-ball linebacker spots like the SAM. Keep your best pass-rushers rushing the passer and usually good things follow.StaticRB Melvin GordonWhat do I have left to say that hasn’t already been said by just about everyone in the football community?Subjectively or objectively, the Chargers offense, and team as a whole, has been piss-poor ever since Gordon came back from his useless holdout. Here are some eye-popping numbers for context:Gordon has been less than inefficient. He hasn’t even been a blip on the radar for efficiency’s sake.I just don’t see how this team can attempt to rally from this 2-5 hole unless they make a dedicated decision to change their usage of Gordon. Last year, some of Gordon’s biggest runs of the year came when his former collegiate teammate and fullback, Derek Watt, was lead-blocking for him.Watt has seen a miniscule amount of snaps in the last three games, including just eight Sunday afternoon, and it’s starting to force us to think there might be some correlation there.I don’t know. This isn’t an excuse for Gordon’s underwhelming performance either, I’m just spit-balling here.Either way, he finished with 32 yards rushing on 16 carries and somehow managed -3 receiving yards on a pair of catches, including his two fumbles and the game-sealer he lost at the end.LB Drue TranquillThis is a bummer to include Tranquill in this section, but the rookie did blow a big-time play against the Titans and it’s unfortunately something he will have to get over and improve upon. One of the biggest and most frustrating themes of this year’s defense is that everyone tends to forget how to tackle in some of the most crucial moments of the game. Last night, Tranquill had a bead on tight end Jonnu Smith on a shallow crosser route that was well in front of the chains on a 3rd-and-14. Tranquill had Smith dead-to-rights Joey Bosa Jersey , wrapping him up in both arms, but swung off of the third-year tight end before he scampered past multiple Chargers defenders and drug a few more for a gain of 35 yards. The play completely shifted potential field position for the Chargers who wound up getting the ball back at their own nine-yard line.It doesn’t help that, on further replay, safety Rayshawn Jenkins took a horrendous angle on Smith while Desmond King casually jogged from across the field and didn’t actually attempt to help the tackle until after Smith was already past the chains. Were King to pursue the play like every coach teaches their defenders, the Titans would have never gotten the first.By no means am I saying that Tranquill is now “trash” or anything like this. Hell, I think it was a plus that he was so on top of Smith’s route to even be in a position to make that play in the first place. He just has to finish. The entire team just has to learn how to finish.Until they do, we will revolve around this carousel time and time again. The Offensive lineThis is a broken record, obviously. Rivers was sacked just once last night, but that just says more to Rivers’ ability to get rid of the ball than it does to the line’s propensity to keep him clean. But to be honest, this is about the run game. At this point, it doesn’t matter who is toting the rock behind them, there isn’t a single crack of daylight to be found. Taking a step back, it’s mind-numbing to comprehend how Justin Jackson was able to average eight yards per carry behind the same unit (minus Pouncey). To be honest, I’ve never seen anything like this. With the Bengals and the Chargers, both lines seem absolutely inept at moving the football on the ground. The Chargers have averaged less than three yards per carry over their last three games. At one point in time during the Bengals and Jaguars game, running back Joe Mixon had nine carries for seven yards. He also has yet to reach the end zone on the ground this season. Same goes for Gordon. Both backs have caught a touchdown, however. It just astounds me how a group of grown men are unable to find it within themselves to execute just ONE run correctly. Out of Gordon’s 16 carries, his longest attempt went for just six yards. It truly makes you want to run your head through the nearest wall.At this point, I’m not sure the presence of left tackle Russell Okung would do much of anything in the way of improving this offensive line.
